The first set of tabs shown, it appears as though someone tried to "enhance" the rank tab by putting 3 holes in an EM tab? I think it was originally a blank EM tab. Plus the pip looks too big (probably a shoulder board pip). The runes tab looks good though.

On the second set of tabs, the fist runes tab looks good IMO.
The second photo though, (one with the moth holes in it), it too fuzzy a photo to tell for sure?

the rank tab has a big pip most probably, as said, a shoulder board one, but I recall having seen this combination some times on period pictures and on good dealers´websites. So can it be that this rank tab combination is legit??

Second thought on it is that originally the rank tab had 3 smaller pips- marked by the three backside holes?

That's exactly my point!

IMO, this rank tab had 3 pips on it at one time. It doesn't matter what view you take, either it was done wartime when someone was promoted, or done post war to "enhance" this tab.
My point is, the tab has been tampered with either way. It's an original tab, but it's "damaged goods" IMO. It's a shame.
