Waffen ss shoulder boards.... kz or recon?

A good buddy of mine just purchased shoulder boards and he was wondering what your opinions are in regards to kz or recon? Thank you in advance!!!

Thanks for posting these for me! I think I have my photographic issues resolved and will be happy to add more pics if necessary! These came from a collection that they had been in for 50 years, the collector bought direct from the vet with all his other war trophies. These were taken from the stores at Dachau. Now I bought them from that collector. I'd really love some opinions on these. I posted on warrelics.eu and got nothing but thumbs up. I hoping I do here as well, thanks!

In my opinion it looks like copper brown.

I guess the first question that I think we all agree on the answer to is the question of being original.....which has been a unanimous yes by everyone....My second question, and the theory has been discussed on this forum in another thread is this......Since the SS stopped using Kupferbraun in 42 and basically did away with the Recon designation, did the remaining unissued Recon boards get reassigned to KZ use? Would any "brown" shade after 42 carry the KZ designation? These boards were taken from Dachau by a U.S. G.I. in 45 along with other unissued SS insignia from the clothing stores. Would there still be Recon boards laying around in bins?

The person behind emedal believe in your theory that the copper brown must have been re-issued to KZ. I draw this conclusion from reading about one of their old sales. http://www.emedals.com/a-waffen-ss-s...entration-camp

What I have read earlier is that KZ had light brown and not copper brown piping.

This is very tricky, I will follow this thread with interest.

Thank you! Am I correct in assuming that we all agree the boards are original?

Here are Luft signals boards which used the same waffenfarbe as Recon....I believe. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

I will tomorrow after work, I'll photograph together in natural light. Are you concerned about originality or just checking out the waffenfarbe?

Search this forum! This problem had been discussed here before. I once had a pair of early recce boards, that I got directly out of the hand of the WSS veteran, and the brown was darker. But it isnĀ“t easy, I know.

Check this one out. http://wehrmacht-awards.com/Forums/s...3&postcount=20 There are some boards compared to each other, light brown and copper brown.

Your shoulder boards were used by the Reconnaissance since they are copper brown. KZ used light brown. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corps_colours_(Waffen-SS)

Sorry for using wikipedia as source, I cant find any else right now.

Of course Im not expert, so lets wait for them to comment too.

Bottom left is more the colour the tabs had, that the vet gave me.
