    Also, there may have been a fair supply of this type of piping that survived the war and was used on later fakes.
    Anyway, for me, I remain usure regarding this tab.

      piping

      this style of metallic piping i have seen on early SA officers' tabs. for me, the piping is odd and seldom seen, but period.

        I too have seen this type of piping on early and foreign made tabs. It's been noted on a number of threads here and accepted as 'early' use stuff.

        I also note the reference to "the runes are also made of brass thread, instead of aluminum" which, again signals an early construction when they used silver plated wire which later disappears leaving the base metal wire such as my NSFK Brigadefuhrer tabs here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=245571

          I have to say I still like what I see ....
          There doesn't seem to be enough evidence to say these are really bad or that they don't even stand a chance of being original.
          I would still have it in my collection ...
          Would anyone else like to add their thoughts to this interesting thread .... ?
          I like to learn ...
