Clips and alu rivets are incorrect. Probably original camo fabric but seems to be post war manufacture.
I do not like rust spots either. Artificially aged IMO
May you please show us a detailed picture of the double stitching rows?

                    Hi,

clips and alu rivets DON'T rust.
                    Epic fail.

                    See You

                      why shouldn't steel clips rust?
                      I like these clips 100%
anodized, good shape, I see nothing wrong...

And away from that, the cover was discovered with other (maybe rusting) equipment in an barn.

Late war inferior made components, steel replacing aluminum (the latter being a critical material for aviation needs) and/or lack of proper anodizing treatment
would make parts prone to rusting...This is a general remark...I am not a helmet cover clip expert but I know various "qualities" existed...
The later the more inferior is the case like with most equipment...deterioration of quality because of shortages...ersatz materials being used...and production short cuts.

                          True.

                          That's true.

This one sold this morning on Ebay Germany over 800 Euro.
                            Cheers

                              Clips are fake
