As its a first type cover surely the problem of material shortage did not arise.Also
when I see a re-inforcing strip of cloth across the front,alarm bells ring as I have yet to see these strips in use in the field.I say its post war.

That strip existed in plain cloth (early) as well as in camo cloth ("later", ca. 41/42 and on). There are numerous period photographs out there showing this.

This cover here, of course, is not a good one though.
