Honor ring ex-Pepera collection

So its proved its from johns collection and genuine, but as craigs selling it,its deemed crap? i dont get this CG venetta at all.

What make you believe it's genuine ? Because of provenance ?

I believe both ring and CoA are fake, no matter who's selling it.

Btw, here's ring story as per auction house advertising :


"It was sold by Wolfe and Hardin at some point in the early 1990s, and authenticated by Don Boyle 20 years ago. Ring comes with the original Don Boyle certificate, along with an email about the ring from John Pepera to the current owner, dated 2003, in which he describes the ring....."

Although I am no expert, I have yet to see a Don Boyle CoA that looks like that one.

The ring itself looks like a cast fake to me. However, It could be something else I'm not aware of.

Is this the one from Craig Gottlieb Auctions ?
I see that's already been answered in the affirmative.

Thanks for the link. I would have to make sure it is the same ring, but frankly I liked the ring in link even less that this one! Assuming it is the same ring I would attribute the different look to the photos. The ring in the linked thread really looks cast to me.

The ring may be good, but I would have to handle it to convince myself. As with any of this material or really anything at all, it does not matter to me who has owned it, vouched for it or stands behind it. I do ask for and appreciate opinions on so many things, but I for one would never take something like a HR or a RK based on a dealer or collector's name alone!

As a note the discussed ring is mentioned in Craig Gottlieb book at page 62-64 :

"...Until recently, it was rumored that a ring containing the date January 30, 1943 (30.1.43) existed. While a ring date commemorating Hitler's ascendancy to Chancellor of Germany is out of the question, the ring was sold to an unknown party by collector John Peppera, and no conclusive analysis could be performed to corroborate the claim...."

seeing the ring does look exactly the same as late John P had, it would also mean that John already had this fake ring and never mentioned it?
