WH boards does not matter much to me on a SS tunic.
Looks nice, also note the typical pointed collar style.
Its right to calculate it by the parts.

Collar wear pattern doesn't follow the tabs outline, so the tabs are restored in my opinion.

Stunning tunic and I believe it to be a period sewn together tunic. Of coarse I can't tell for sure but that is my opinion. I really like it !

My intention is not to parrot John Pic but, I think it is one of the best examples of a REAL W-SS officer's tunic that I have seen on the forum in several years....and really up there with any ever posted here.

IMO every piece of the insignia is consistent in wear and age with the other pieces and with the tunic. The thread shows the age and the type of sewing that I have seen on 100% original SS officer tunics that I have examined 35-40 years ago...

The Heer pattern officer boards were commonly worn by W-SS officers, I actually found a photo of a Westland Sturmbahnfurher wearing the Inf backed Heer pattern boards in the Mun.Verlag Wiking book tonight. The tab sewing, thread and the way they are worn is IMO about impossible to fake and look like that.

It would be hard for me guess what a "more right" SS officers tunic could look like and more importantly BE LIKE if not this one.

I like it very much. I think the collar tabs do show matching wear, maybe take a pic in another direction.

Someone said eagle looks to be replaced? I do not think so, no signs of that to me. Nicely applied eagle, shows wear and does not 'sit' on the tunic.

From the pics, I like it a lot. However with these the devil is in the details, that can only be really seen in hand. J

I'm by far from being an expert - but I'd have it in my collection.

Steve, so you are the owner?
                        Are you selling it?

When yes I fly to AUS and pick it personal up. You have my word.

Wondering about the price of the parts, how much would an officer's SS tunic with stripped insigina be worth? Only the tunic but 100% SS, it has everything you want to see, shades of insignia, discoloration, wear and soiled all around the insignia areas, all-in-all it leaves you absolutely no doubts that tunic has served in the SS. How much would I need to be ready to spend for a tunic like that? Can anyone tell?

                              Hello,
I can tell you the tunic has not been messed with. It came from a US veteran, and my friend has even seen a picture of the vet posing with this same tunic in 1946. I believe it was captured in Austria. The tunic is not named.

We are working on getting it, but it is real hard. the guy who owns it is real nervous and feels it is illegal to own (even after we have shown him our stuff). So we are working on a fair offer.

I wonder what decorations were on it? Plus, it would have had a long ribbon bar. I have two bars with 5 ribbons and they were too short for the loops, but a 6 place ribbon bar fits it.
                              Regards,
                              Jody
