Well,it appears it was humped up with a DK,ribbons etc and denazified at some point so I guess the Moderator and his buddies were correct after all.

I don't believe the originality of the eagle ever came into question, but rather when it was sewn.

Thank you for the continued interest!
Yes pretty clear DK and EK ribbon added. That wasn't really in doubt. What had to be cleared up was simply that those two added, as was often the case in the early pre-research days, does not condemn that it is otherwise original and with the add-ons removed it's a brillian tunic!
No I haven't seen where anyone questioned the eagle and it's been clear from early on that like so many IIIrd Reich uniforms the eagle was removed at one point and then resewn.
It has a paper and web trail to the late 60's from Keith Beaumont collection.

That is because the original thread where we went page after page of someone trying to say it was a humped up Heer M43 has disappeared or been archived. Hence the red mark in the photo I posted. In that thread the originality of the eagle was questioned. But how convenient that it is no longer available to browse. Here we are some 10-12 years later and still have to play these idiotic games on the forums. I never debated the ribbon or DKiG but the tunic itself because it was trashed by not one but two so called experts who would vet a humped up Panzer wrapper as 100% untouched simply because it belonged to an "expert".

It is a very nice tunic. I would be happy to have it in my collection. Tabs look indeed very nicely aged with the surrounding collar and the whole collar looks like these tabs are the only set that was ever there. Very nice piece with provenance, named owner and long ownership history.

Is the style of writing on the label not unusual and not of concern ?

The auction of his document archives provided a bit of a clue.
First a narrative he wrote for his file begins "In 1934, I worked in the (then) illegal S.A. In 1936, I joined the ordinary SS. During the period of illegality…..I commanded an SS troop which I had just formed…". And some later letters indicate he got in some kind got water with The Pty. Reference a request for a ‘petition for mercy’ from the SS and Police Court in Berlin. A letter in July 1944 signed by Karl Fahrenkamp, the SS physician who served as doctor to Himmler’s mother, ‘….I note that you have apparently been the victim of intrigue within the administrative apparatus. I find this all the more deplorable, since I have been happy to note how well you have deserved of the German people, particularly as a leader and teacher of our young people. I should advise you to ascribe no excessive importance to this matter, in so far as one can really ask this of a loyal National Socialist. I can once more assure you that these kinds of accusations are hardly calculated to ruin a deserving party member and SS leader. In addition, I shall get personally in touch with the SS Reichsfuhrer on your behalf.’ A second letter from August 1944 signed by the Director of the National Agricultural Institute on the same matter, "….I can only suppose that the schemers are to be found in circles close to you. You mention, in this connection, a party member named Dr. Wittlinger, on whom you were obliged, at the behest of your area headquarters, to give a character report. I imagine that this intrigue can be traced back ultimately to Dr. Wittlinger. Let me assure you that, in this matter, you have my full backing.,"

You know I've posted a lot of info on collecting SS uniforms. I even posted how I examg ined a couple uniforms that showed no shadows of having heer eagles over the pockets until you examined them with a proper UV light in a dark room and the ghost of the eagles were rebadged post war frauds. I you take this into a dark room and do the same thing and the ghost of the DKig shows up you may have damaged a good tunic.
No visible shadow is not a viable way of knowing for sure.
