Wow what a nice find...Too bad the tunics were denazified but not all the caps! What an amazing group!!
The M41 combat tunic with 2 step liner (more proof of this theory) is really sweet. The open neck tunic with collar piping is also amazing!
The officer probably served (and had his residence) in colder areas where these woolen tunics allowed for extra warmth so preferring these
over smoother officer quality gabardine...or he just liked the combat look of courser wool garments!
and the group comes with infantry piped pants even!! Also tailored in course wool. Pretty unique!!!
It is researchable as a name appears in one of the visors!

Hi Nick,
it is Hans Otto Gerke.
We have done some research on him already. Im having lots of PMs and Emails on his unit so I thought about sharing a picture of his CV here.
It does not say a unit there but he writes that he plans to do his military duty with SS-Leibstandarte "Adolf Hitler".
Hope this helps.

No information from where this group came from where this man actually served?
There must have been something from the family..?
In 1939 any kid wanted to serve with the "LSSAH," being the most popular unit known in the Reich.
There are no traces of cyphers on the shoulderboards of the UStuf walking-out tunic, so LAH can most probably be excluded from the list IMO.
Cheers,
Markus

Unit/Cufftitle question solved.

And, uhhhh why is he listed by John Moore as a Standartenoberjuncker?

VT-cut field grey officer's tunic for a man that was promoted to Standartenoberjunker (highest NCO rank) in late 43 (almost 44)..."Scarce" I woud say.
Would be great if that grouping was legit! Questions raised by Herr Dr. are valid though IMO.
Cheers

One concern for me already mentioned why would family go to the trouble of carefully removing insignia, lots of traces of black thread and not pull off visor insignia? Comes off in a snap, taking off insignia requires effort if you don't want to damage the jacket (mainly speaking of the M40) Additionally custom tailored pants are odd to have no signs of use esp if he lived up till 43' I could see if made early and the soldier was killed quite recently after ordered, which calls into question when they were made, both assumeably from same Prague tailor, so did he order two pairs of pants get fitted and was killed within weeks, pants shipped to his parents?just puzzling. Wish I could afford to bid to win still for me issues.
