    Hello Willi

Well according to what Mollo found out about them ( he had more than one type). All the caps that utilise this style of embroidered trap are from an SS owned A.M.G.u.K. that utilised some cottage industry as well as SS resources This is why you never see WH, LW or KM cap badges & traps embroidered like that. It is also very rare to see a one button WH M43 or exposed bill on WH, LW or KM.

Seemingly this A.M.G.u.K. simplified production over time to increase productivity and over come loss of facilities from bombing/ invasion

Also in reply to your question in post number 58 , the wool used to make the cap that started this thread looks like the German made wool but I would have to have it in hand to be sure. A close up image of the pile and base weave of the cloth would help,

Interesting that almost all caps shown on this thread appear to have had the trap applied with a zig-zag stitch.

Footprint of the SS controlled A.M.G.u.K.

        Cap

What bothered me originally, was that the trap in question looked different than all the other green wool traps I've seen, including on this thread. But the trap in Post #65 and others, has the same different-shaped eyes as the trap I questioned. It's often important to dissent, as opposed to everyone just breezing it through. ESPECIALLY regarding the minefield that is SS M-43's. Now, the owner of the cap can feel much better about his cap, knowing that even the naysayers were shot down. =

            SS M43 cap

            Hi,

I've had this cap for three years, now thinking of moving it on.

Does anyone have any further thoughts before I put it on e-stand?

            Regards,

            Grossfuss

Pretty confusing thread which cap are we talking about ?
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

If you're referring to the cap that started this thread, the consensus seems to be that it's a legitimate example. I'd feel ok posting it for sale.

                  SS M43 Cap

                  Hi Justin,

Thanks for your comment - it is a rather rambling thread, but of course it's the cap from Norway that starts the thread which is the one under discussion now!

                  Regards,

                  Grossfuss
