Dutch Ring

My ring was found (by the member from Austria) in a field in his country and cleaned up...(POW staging area 1945)
its old and original and it shows, as member Winkelman from Holland already stated.

Here shown in the collection related to Dutch Volunteer service. (Erkennungsmarke-dog tag is "Frw. Brig.Landstorm Nederland" related)
Note: NO flash reflection (glare) in the last image. (but it is "925" Dutch made shiny Silver...cleaned up really good!)

I had three standard SS rings for many years ago, but not something like this.

As a volunteer-freiwilligen collector (Russian side) I thought you would like to see my "Nederlandse Legioen" Wolfhook ring!

For comparison purposes here's another reproduction of this famous Dutch Volunteer ring...
However the faker had the inside engraved to show 2 SS Pz Division unit info with '43 date...That Division also used a Wolfhook, but ofcourse
a totally different German one! Oops WRONG!!!



The ring also lacks the cavity as show on the back side of original Dutch rings...

So besides the fantasy markings issue, it does not have the Dutch "Schoonhoven"
Silver smith marks, so it is an easy one to identify as garbage!

Good question. Would love to see clear examples of period wear.
Since this style ring became (sort of) the official Dutch volunteer ring, I was hoping some images would pop up...I scoured the internet, but not much luck...
I only found this possible example...Not really clear...
He might be a squad leader in the later "Nederland" Brigade, wearing the SS flashes as opposed to the Wolfshook collar tab...(see next post)

Early on the Wolfhook (in Dutch "wolfsangel") was adopted as their legion symbol of course, worn vertical and later horizontal!

The first foreign Knights Cross recipient was of course Dutchman Gerardus Mooyman, a well published hero soldier of that time.
I have not found any pictures of him wearing such a Wolfhook signet ring unfortunately...Now that would have been cool!

which show typical Dutch master silversmith hallmarks from that period...)
