And there is the bottom line! "Inspect each item". I have sat here listening to you troll your speacial brand of inuendo John......and have had enough. Have you bought anything from Peter? No!......have you got anything bad from him in your hands........NO! Have you been to Russia (or even Europe) and seen what is possible? NO! Do you have any PROOF things are bad? NO! This is not just about what can be found in Russia or the Baltics.......it's also about some respectable hoards and collections in Europe.....seen any of those John? No....I thought not. Well I have! I have PHOTOS here....I have shared a couple...from just ONE hoard...no comment on that I notice....just more inuendo....and unsubstantiated at that! I have introdueced Peter to these....he has introduced me to many of his contacts.....I have stayed at his house for weeks, travelled with him....I have many, many items in my collection from him.

You say you did not start this thread to attack one individual...that is C-R-A-P...you know it! You say you have mails from people complaining of their experiences......well I have received several mails saying you are full of C-R-A-P also.....I guess all the people who have had a good buy from Peter and felt good enough to recommend him on this and other forums (like here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=lukacs or this: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=lukacs) are all idiots and have not as much idea as you do? I suppose that collectors like Bob Hritz, Eric Queen, Klaushund, Prosper Keating and Francois Saez are really being duped right? These tunics caps, medals and named groups are studied and passed around collectors.....where is the indignation on these "possible remakes" from someone who has actually handled one? Stop! John....you don't qualify! You obviously have not examined one of Peter's tunics or caps!

Nobody disputes your right to discuss items or their history.....but this is character assasination....without proff...only inuendo. I have been collecting since the year you were born and I have seen your kind come and go.......you add nothing positive, thrive on conflict and can never substantiate your claims. You are a virus......a bug. If you are examining an item and there is somehting you don't like......then by all means discuss it. But if you are peddling innuendo, based on no FACTS, a HUNCH...you might as well be reading tarot cards!

No go stop making such a clown of yourself! Come back if you want when you have a tunic that you think is fake in your hands or somehting other than unsubstantiated rumour (started by you!). Now go ahead and scream the house down!

              Slow?

My god Wade, are you really that dumb! I said it at the beginning of the thread that I think Peter is selling put-together W-SS uniforms and caps. And I have made specific points in relation to this . So I will say it again for all you slow folks. "Do the private collectors and sources in the east only have W-SS tunics that exhibit little to no wear. Did the W-SS not sweat in the tunics they left in the east? Did only the decorated W-SS soldier's leave their tunics behind in the east? Was it mandatory that you had to wear a cufftitle when serving on the Eastern Front? Was it mandatory if a Waffen-SS soldier served on the Eastern Front that all the insignia had to be machine-applied?
Again, we can discuss all the stuff that was left behind, and all the secret contacts, and private collections, but none of this will explain this bizarre set of circumstances. Where are all the tunics that have been worn, I'm guessing a few 'salty' tunics got left behind. Where are the tunics to the soldiers who were not decorated, two or three times, these tunics should far outnumbered the tunics of decorated soldiers. Why aren't there more Wehrmacht tunics coming out of the east, the Wehrmacht outnumbered the W-SS by over 10-1?" John

P.S. I respect you for using your name, but don't ever tell me to shut up. And I've answered TWP with a PM.

here's my two cents worth, I have just re-checked Pv L's site and all I can say is that in my opinion there's alot of 'nice' tunics under one roof...most dealers would dream about this inventory in a lifetime, IMHO.

And I will say it for you also.....Do Wolfe & Hardin have lots of worn old tunics to sell? do they have lots of lowly undecorated uniforms in stock? Do you think all stock is on the updates? Do you think everything Peter gets is online? Lots gets traded away...traded up for nice stuff....which ends on the site.... the cream gets on the site....you understand? I don't see lots of that stuff on Bill Shea's site....Or Winkler......but they all have the stuff I would guess.

Talk all you like....but do you have a SPECIFIC greivance with a uniform from Peter? if not....stop trying to smudge his reputation. The many people who have bought uniforms from Peter (including decorated SS ones) seem to be quite happy. Maybe you know something they all do not? (even thought they have a tunic in their hands and you don't!)
Go teach a newbie to suck eggs! I have been around a lot longer and I do not need a lesson from you! I am not "using my name".....I am a friend of Peter's....I have travelled with him looking at stuff.....and I am relating that experience!

Johnny....I can't answer that....I have no idea. I am here in Australia so have not seen the item you talk about.

I am never against relevant discussion....but I have all this hinting and inuendo that goes on! Evidence is all that matters.....and what the items say for themselves when you examine them! whee are these poor unhappy, ripped-off buyers of SS tunics? and why answer TWP with a PM? I for one would like to know what specifically you are pointing at........

                      Wade,
I'm sorry if I've offended you by pointing this strange set of circumstances regarding the sale of Peter's SS uniforms. This is a discussion forum and these things are open to discussion. I have stated time and again, that these are my opinions, so take from them what you will. I have asked the questions and repeatedly no one can explain the pattern. So what more am I to do.
Wade what scares me is your remark that a lot of stuff get's traded off the site. You say it's the cream of the crop that makes it to the Peter's site, that's strange. Typical it's the good stuff that never makes it to a dealer's website, so I wonder what the stuff off the site is like . And as far as I know the PM system is meant to be private, but in case you think I have something to hide here is my exact message to TWP...John

"Sorry for not responding to you earlier, but personally I would I am suspicious of any SS tunic I see, no matter the condition or the source. As far this situation now is concerned, the majority of SS tunics being offered for sale from Europe and the East, are generally all in excellent to mint condition with no signs of having been worn. That fact couple with all the other issues, all are decorated tunics, all have cufftitles, all have machine-applied insignia, create a set of circumstances that runs contrary to the reality of SS uniforms. As most SS uniforms were worn, because there was a shortage during the war and very few would have been left unused, relatively few soldiers per unit would have been decorated several times over, many as SS tunics were without cufftitles as the war went on, and the insignia was applied to the tunics by hand as well as by sewing machines...Now having said all this openly, the next generation of tunics will address the points I've made. The key is knowing what to look for though, a fake will always be a fake...Good Luck! John"

                            John,

you offended me because you are attacking (and there is no other way to put it) my friend, one I have had extreemly close contact with and with whome I have travelled Europe From Moscow to the Channel coast. Certainly discussion is not to be discouraged....but the presence of several nice SS tunics on an update does not in of itself make them fake/repro/remade.

Naturally the cream makes it to Peter's site updates......he has a small office in Stockholm.....hardly trading in "passing traffic"....the largest percentage of trade is done "as per updates"......much like Detlev. So when you say (quote) "I wonder what the stuff off the site is like " (endquote)....what exactly are you inferring? You see? More unsubstantiated inuendo!
At the end of the day you do not have any of these items in your hand so can hardly make any sort of educated submission on them. Go have a look at say the Hohenstaufen Oberscharführer's tunic: http://ww-2militaria.com/b/new/uc/uc0075/desc.htm WHAT can you see that is suspect on this? let's speak in FACTS.

I also think that there are many myths involved in this....such as the one that SS veterans didn't keep their uniforms. These days, especially now these fellows are very old they do not feel they have to hide their service like they used to. Now they come out and say "yeah....I was in the SS" and they also sometimes reveal they have some stuff....some of it cloth. I have had several experiences where veterans had their "best service dress" at home...or at their parents place.....for when they came home on leave. The father of one of my wife's schoolfirends has at home in northern Germany both his super nice mint dress-up uniform to impress the ladies....and the dirty old combat dress which he walked home in after the war. A lot of veterans had stuff which was just hurredly stashed in the attick or cellar....and is only now being found due to their passing....many forget what they had put away out of sight in a trunk at war's end. Many also wanted to forget....not all destroyed it though. The experience of Peter buying the Sturmbannführer Alfred Arnold group (reams and reams of papers, uniform, medals, headdress, photos....etc. etc.) is not a totally unique one. Once again....people said "it's too good to be true"....but it wasn't.....it was from the family (who included Arnold's SS General father and his death's head ring) who kept EVERYTHING. The stuff just kept coming frm the attic....box after box. It now all resides in a very, very respectable collection. There is a lot of nice personal medal/paper named groups peter gets also......is this all fake?

I'm sorry but the "where there is smoke there is fire" argument is not sustainable here. Every dealer has their detractors......Shea, Wolfe, Detlev, Winkler, Weitze.....etc. But at the end of the day....each item is the evidence.....and people's experience with that dealer. And many, many have had a good experience with Peter, who sits in a great location to find good stuff (as evidenced by his overall inventory....not just the tunics/caps).
Forums are cetainly for discussion and learning.....but that can also be abused. I believe that is the case here. You are not discussing anything in general....you are attacking Peter and his product....as far as I can see with no specific proof.

That is why I am angry....and I stand by my friend. Wade K.

PS...excuse the typos...I am trying to squeeze this in while my toddler has his morning nap! (and I am not careful enough typing! hahahaha!)

                              Panzer,

I think you are correct to say much of the 'top notch' pieces dont make it into the online inventories of dealers. Speaking from personal experience, I have been offered pieces which dealers have just received waaaay before they even appear online, this is part of the relationship one must build with trusted dealers.

To simplify what I believe people are trying to say is that Peter v L has a much greater number of top end pieces offered through his online inventory than most other recognised and trusted dealers, this may just be the result of his business practice, perhaps he prefers to list them all for everyone to see rather than set them aside for specific collectors and not list them, as other dealers do.

..that's now my five cents worth..

                              Thomas
