I presume the owners brother wasn't a collector?

With that knowledge this tunic could be declared one of the few unmessed with out there.

    Chris.
Thank you Chris...I found out it was the mans Father....and no he was not a collector he was a US WWII vet that brought the stuff home from the war and put it in a box in the attic and there it sat until the other day when I found it while putting the furnace in the house. I had a long talk with him and he found his fathers uniform in a different box which he wants to keep. His father was in Second Infantry Div. and I have his name and other info on him.

Then you have truly struck gold.

I would advise you note the time, place, people involved, etc even print this thread and take photos of the attic.

All this will keep evidence for the future and keep the value of the items with it.
If I was a future owner I know I would appreciate it.

      All the best,
      Chris.

        Nobody noticed this before?
Doesn't this make the tunic even more desirable?
Besslein, I see your point. He obviously must have seen combat then.
Forgive my suspicious mind, but shouldn't we adress this fact before cheering this attic find, which is -by the way- extraordinary. That's the least you can say of it.

Very nice! If you want to see if the US Veteran's military personnel records are still on file to see where he served - which may give you some answers of where this group was located in Germany - I can check the records for you or assist you in doing that. Just let me know.

Do you see a name in the ss uniform anywhere? Maybe I missed a mention of it.

So common to discover ww2 US uniforms in attics but certainly not ss ones! Truly a rare and priceless discovery.

The sight of the contents of that dusty box works even better than those diamond shaped blue pills!

Thanks man I didn't know you were on this forum....you dont have a 2nd ID unit history do you? I would love to see if the vet that brought this stuff home shows up on the roster.
