the bogus Year stamped in the wood is the icing
Andreas, I am having trouble following your logic.
This particular item has nothing to do with the others except that it appears to be a rather obvious faked impression of the standard examples.
Instead of icing (on the cake) as you put it, one could say it shows what a fake actually look like.

and you bring up "british origin"...I must have missed somthing I surmised this was found in a french speaking location .

I'd to present you my SS wooden casket.
As you can see, This is a superb craftsmanship.
The SS runes are very well design.
There is 2 different markings: 1933 ans 056 on the box cover, and only 056 on the base of the box.
It comes from an old and well known collection.
      Any comment is wellcome!
      Thanks a lot
      Hello Sassagniac,
I take no pleasure in telling you , but in my opinion , I agree with those who feel this is one a fake.
As others as also said: I cant know for certain one way or the other.

If you believe it is good, and know your sources, then that is good for you.

But it has classic telltale signs from other fakes , not to mention it looks like it was purposely carved in a way to" not fool" anyone.

I can tell you that in 1989 I was present when one (a partial one) was unearthed in Berlin.A friend of mine was using a metal detector looking for goodies (mainly 2 mm flak casings) when his machine readings went off the chart. Buried about 8 inches in the ground was the remains of a SS em dagger and what we thought at the time was an old rotting picture frame. The hagal rune & swastika were the only sides remaining ...so I know these existed pre 45...no idea or comment to the originally posted box....
        Hello RD,
This is another important piece of info on the MK boxes.
So you were actually there when it was dug up.

Now that sounds interesting! Have you got any hard copy photos you can scan in of the discovery?

It doesn't make sense for the manufacturer / maker to stamp the year and the serial number. It would seem more logical to carve his initials and those details. Again these are theories and unless several period photos with provenance show up, there will be two sides of believers and non-believers.

I think a single photo would suffice, and I doubt there are many believers of this piece.
