last one but i could go on for pages, the question i think that needs to be asked is if these items are sewn on to what they were intended for would they do the job, and the answer would be yes.
    cheers,

      Great Examples - Thanks!

Thanks Gary! I do appreciate the pics on these variations! Very elucidating to be sure! I know you just can't be too careful these days.

"I know you just can't be too careful these days."

        Dallas,
I agree, money involved nowadays is far greater, but I do think sometimes collectors loose perspective in that they are paying many hundreds for something that when it was produced at the time cost pennies.

        cheers,

          Your absolutely correct

It looks like I missed out on this one, but it was a very educational experience that will help the next time around. Thanks!

            Tk

            Hello,

I agree with Gary. An original tk with a production anomoly. Weave, material, etc. look good to me. Not a repro I've ever encountered. I've seen trapezoids with production anomolies that make them look odd.

Also, on one of the primary styles of skulls, there are several size craniums that can be encountered. Different templates being used over the years by the same manufacturer or different manufactures executing their version of the tk.

                Robin ,

manufactured and distributed at the clothing depot at Dachau ? This is my understanding like the many collar tabs etc

I would also like to point out as well that these type of fault also appear on fake items as well, below is an old fake cap eagle where the tan thread used is cotton, this type/style of eagle has been copied more than once over the years but this example is one of the early ones notice the fault in the wings,
                  cheers,

and a fake trap same problem, both the above would be caused in my opinion by a broken needle/bent needle or a sticking or worn selector on the weave bed, where as the tk on the fez would be a different story more likely a tension problemcheers,

                      tk

                      Paul and Gary,

Thanks for the information on this type anomale. I could not decide when I posted this skull if it was odd original or a repro and now you have helped me realize I was incorrect on my first guess. The distortion to the nose, left eye and teeth is something I have not seen before on a TK!
