    FEZ skull

I noticed this fez for sale in the Estand. Seller says it is from Bill Shea so "you know it is good". I have to take issue with this type statement. Any opinions on this bevo skull? Odd looking original or repro?

Interesting - look at the top lip

It's curved. Every one I've seen appears to be straight. As to Shea, that may be conjecture.

Isn't the cranium a little oversized?

        ESTAND fez

        Okay,
I clearly think this is a repro skull. The eyes, nose, teeth and shape of the cranium are not correct for any pattern woven skull i have ever seen.
I have not really looked at the eagle yet but I do not think this is a good skull.
Based on this I would be cautious if any of you are thinking of buying this one.

Would you say that the fez itself is original and probably one of those that was stripped of its insignia?

the tk on the fez looks like it could be this pattern below, the one below though is an officers,
my personal opinion is it is a faulty period example thus the distortion,
            cheers,

Yes, the fez is definitely an original.

What about the eagle. I'm still not entirely convinced about the skull.

Hey just notice the chat going on with the Fez , You have to remember the scull and eagle when installed are puffy so you get that look in the shape .. and even I would think after 3 yrs or so that thay made these fez's that not all sculls and eagles would look 100 % same ....Its not like a early em ss dagger with german worker making them ...
lots of these came out of camps

                      Dallas,
To be honest if you are not convinced or have doubts you better leave it alone as you would never be happy.

The eagle there is nothing wrong with do a search on the forum to find other like it.

As for the tk show me another like it, if its a fake there will be more out there as these things will be produced in the 1000's, my opinion is still the same original period tk just a faulty one, still looks like a tk and as such would have been used by the manufacture, we sometimes forget these items were made for pennies they were not made to be looked at by collectors at high resolution paying a thousand times more than its initial cost of the item.

                      cheers,
                      Gary
