I have seen the blue gray material used for lining the sleeves used in re-made tunics in the past which is why I say this.

After the theory of relining the sleeves,
then the retailoring of the hole tunic ....
I'm wondering why nobody has spoken about the blackening of an PL tunic... ??
People may have some doubts about this tunic John but I'm
not sure that they will give some credit too your unbalanced and changing speculations;
Thank you Robert for your intervention !
Its very symptomatic of a general trend in this forum,
what is rare must also be fake ...
I know that you understand something about black uniforms,
but I would have preferred to hear some solid reasons why this tunic
is supposed to be wrong.
(Additionally, I dare to pretend that I'm as aware as you are about the rarity of such uniforms).
I'm the last one to criticise the fact that greatest caution is required with such items.
Caution is however leading into paranoia by some people here;
especially when the given "analysis" is backed up on pure supposition and convictions.
Most readers are probably expecting much more factual arguments instead of convictions.
By the way, I had the possibility to shown this tunic last year to Peter Jenkins at the arm fair of Ciney.

Christian..so what..you showed it to Peter Jenkins a nice guy who has been fooled a few times himself by fakes.
You have the burden of proof...the FACT is that most tunics like ths were not lined in this manner...prove otherwise.
So far showing it to PJ and buying it from a different source prove absolutely nothing...its also a fact that as long as a delaer isn't burdened with buying they will say nice things to appease possible customers. Good luck keep trying.
I think Robert H has handled many more original garments in his time collecting than most a very experienced and smart collector.
The facts are this, most crimes are solved by supposition and covictions based on experience in past situations and small signs or clues...you guys want to post something and receive a pile of laurels for offering a "stunning" rare piece. Ask the guy who didnt listen and spent a ton of money to aquire a rare grouping that he and others wasted a whole day defending on this forum...until he got it in hand and called me personally to tell me the truth...most of the items were hoaxes mixed with real to fool. I didnt even need to see the grouping to know this would be the case...now I have seen the grouping and know for a fact it was the case.
Your argument so far sir is hollow.Last edited by John Pic; 06-08-2012, 10:28 AM.

Black " silk like" Rayon with light rayon sleeves often striped like "pajamas" trousers also had the striped pajama rayon in them more often than not ....this one supposedly a custome made in Farnkfurt tunic...would have had the special tailors label...Last edited by John Pic; 06-08-2012, 11:47 AM.

Here is a typical example of an officers tunic and how they are lined. This tunic is from my collection. Also, the sleeve lining is typically sewn on top of the black wool tricot as it makes the turn up at the end of the sleeve. The O.Schwab tunic has the opposite. The black wool tricot is sewn on top of the lining. That is odd to me.
