Why is it that SS cultural items are so much more interesting and valuable than SA or RAD or Luftwaffe cultural items?

You mean to tell us, you really haven't figured that out by now? Come on . . . but just in case . . . Do you have any SS items you would like to trade for SA, RAD, or Luft items - even, across-the-board?

Same plate, same detail, different lighting.

If you noticed, I immediately corrected my initial query and said that they are in fact one and the same... relax!

The thread shows a blatant piece of forgery supported by astute observations regarding the images posted.
Without any kind of commentary I, as a viewer, I am now left to my own conjecture with regard to the motivation behind the closure.

Derek - You seem to have attained a great amount of knowledge for most anything related to the SS . . . what do you know about these kind of items? I am curious . . . care to share?

              Agreed.

(Good God - I detest that word used alone in reply . . . every time I see it, I get a vibe it's being posted by someone that feels like they have to display a greater amount of "superiority" over everyone else around . . . what a terrible showing of insecurity . . . What's wrong with simply saying, "I agree"? )

More valuable yes, because of demand, but aesthetically more pleasing or rarer, no. Just because Himmler liked or approved it, is it desirable? To each his own, some of these carved wooden objects leave me cold - OTOH a 12 or 25 year service award or a full A-SS uniform are

these plates(in this discussion) are carved wood for the most part... As far as I know plating is a tech term as to somthing done with metals?
                        Or am I wrong?

OK, it eludes you but the information is there, 1 minute 20s. Also if you look closely at one of the pictures Michael presented to show the carving was not complete, you can actually see there is no difference. All that you see is different photography, not different carving.

Maybe you are just over my head here ...but what does this photo you posted prove? you are not comparing this to the visibly different carving examples.
all you have it added some fake coloration where you wanted to.
this photo of your reposted by me here ......

                            correct comparison

here is how you compare the variant carvings ---of course.
Now there is NO disputing the wheat sheaf is NOT the same.....nor is the sword.

Actually, and I would like to point out that I have no horse in the race, I think that the different appearance is owed to different angles and lighting.

                              Cheers
