I really like the field worn examples of the collar tabs, and the even rarer shields. I don't think I've ever seen a tunic with (originally sewn) tabs on it.

Thanks to all who posted - these are really nice to see collected in one thread.

    regards, Robert

        - the 14thSS Division has not been found guilty of any war crimes by any war tribunal or commission that I can remember.. Maybe some of the other Ukrainian nationalist groups [?]
        - anyway,,,a treat to see this rare insignia,,,thanks for posting..

            Fantastic collections Rene and Bob!

Bob - would it be possible to see a close up photo of the officer tab?

P.S. For the record - the Galicia division underwent two Royal War Crimes comissions, despite what people like to say, it was never found guilty of any war crimes.

Cover and dedication page of a photo album of Galacia in training. This was presented to Himmler by the unit commander, Fritz Freitag, when he attended the completion of the unit's training course. The pictures were all taken during his visit. The album was found in Himmler's house in the Obersalzburg and brought back by a U. S. Army technical sergeant who was temporarily billited in the house.

What a b..........t - maybe people from west and US don't know what "ukrainian ss heroes" really done during war (and after) on Poland pre war and post war teritory but everyone in Poland knows that very well, and that is unquestionable.
Even with trial there will be hard sentences (with death of course ) for brutal war crimes on civilian.

Would love to see pics from this album, especially from action against Polish civilian and farmers - it could be another proof for IPN

Amazing album cover. Your contributions Bob (showing artifacts from your collection) are simply "the best" that is out there! Truly amazing!
Besides the Himmler dedication on the first page, note the embossed Reichsfuhrer SS collar tab rank insignia on the album cover! There is no doubt who this gift belonged to! Wow!
Hope some of the album's contents can be shared with us humble collectors!!

                              - Its honestly gets quite tiresome how every time every the question of Galicia comes up, every polish member has to write this. Read the history of Galicia division. Read up on both sides (and not just the standard polish propaganda kit). Then read it again just to comprehend - Galicia division did not commite any warcrimes. Has it done so, none of it members would freely settle all over the British Commowealth and live their peacefull lives.

                                Agree 100% with you Askold.

I collect ww2 axis volunteer items- BUT i let ALL the politics stay in political forums. If i found politics interesting, then i would be in some human rights movement instead of studying old militaria.
