                        I didnt Know the galician davision were so dispised in poland.I only know the dirlewanger division were well known for war crimes.

                          It is more complicated but in short the Galiziens are ethnic Ukrainians not Polish and according to sources the division was involved in committing atrocities against the Polish people. I'm pretty sure that some of our members like Askold can provide more info. Here are some quick sources:

                              Yeah, Besslein's comment made me do a search on Galizien... Anti-partisan operations certainly were'nt for the faint of heart!

                              Investigations still ongoing even up until recent years on the supposed atrocities comitted.

                              Yet the fact that the Russians can take out over a 1000 men and shoot them without trial not long after capture is almost as bad.
