If I were you I'd sure be quiet about this until I actually had aquired it all and even then I would not tell everybody exactly how it was obtained. You have come up with a good idea of how to find things and now given everyone else the same idea. It won't be long until other dealers and collectors start contacting these house cleaning guys about buying things.

Well i finally saw the goods!!!!!
It was a quick look in a shrank(kind of like a wall locker)only looked at the stuff for a minute or two ,The family was with us and we played it off like we were interested in seeing it. I'm not exactly sure what i saw but there was 2 visors one had a broken prong on the eagle and was hanging down so when you move it to the original position theres marks on the visor where it was hanging.
Both are in good condition. There was 6 uniforms,2 are camo'd not sure of the rank but the visors were NCO visors so im sure the uniforms are the same .OH yeah back to the visors i believe they are the "crusher" type,The camo uniforms look more like they go over the regular uniforms they're pretty thin material compared to the grey uniforms. Also Had 2 american helmet shells,(one is painted T.D. on the side???)The family said he was in the Ardennes offensive with Lt. Proys?(not sure of the spelling on that)also flipped thru about 50 pics. of him and his unit, lots of tank pics. My friend will get the stuff pretty soon as the family wants everything out of the house So as soon as i get it i will post quite a few pics!!

That does sound like the stuff dreams are made of...personally I wouldn't sell anything if you do get it just because it would be such a shame to split up such a good grouping that's survived for so long.
As for Dr. Dreamkill (kidding of course) who mentioned that now alot of dealers are going to be pestering house cleaners...he does have a point. They shouldn't have much luck I'd think. I actually have a friend in that simmilar business (cleaning out houses) as well as a friend who works for an auctioneer that mostly works estates, and a find such as this is truly once in a lifetime. Sure now and then you'll find a piece or two of not-so-rare stuff but finding large quantities of highly desirable items in America at least is rare.

First your probably right that i shouldnt have posted before i got the stuff but i was (am) pretty excited about the whole situation, second i wouldnt believe it if i didnt see it myself and third why would i make it up????and who knows it might be fake stuff and then again it might not,I'm hoping that the deal goes thru, unfortunatly The last couple weeks have been a little crazy around here and i really haven't talked to the guy but i know for a fact that its not going anywhere any time soon.So if i get it i get it and if i don't i don't.Sorry that this post bothered you so much.

[QUOTE=Rick Research]"Charm" always works so well with the New as a howjadu ice breaker in an established community.

I don't want to say that unique situations like this happen all the time, but it is what we as collectors would love to happen to us. This is not you average forum website where people come on to pull the wool over anyones eyes. Things like this do happen see..

As for the comments, pass judgement after the pics are in. If it turns out to be a bust then oh well no harm no foul, however if Erich had done as suggested above he may be turning his back on a great find.
I know my collection is not lage by comparrison to some here. In fact my most expensive item is only about a grand. Take everything with a grain of salt and get informed opinions before buying. If something is free or next to free, then what is the harm in taking a chance on it? If it is fake so what sell it as a repro, but if it is real then you are in the money.

If your BS detector goes off when reading a post, laugh to yourself and move on. If you feel the need to actually voice something, maybe a PM is in order but effectively calling someone a BS'er (liar?) when you are only now up to 10 posts and have no idea who the poster is and his related character seems a bit "fast".
