    SS Kepi

The two SS Kepi's as shown are fake, reproductions.

Here is an original with gold marked interior markings. They also had the same rune markings in silver.

Wow, i go out fishing, and catch nothing, come back to this and catch flak?
The bead your seeing at the sweatband is most likely caused by a folded newspaper tucked way down in the front flap, i just cannot pull it back enough without tearing it, but here's a piece.
Janke?....please show examples of these, i'm curious.
The kepi is not really in that much of a worn condition, just some spots, and not dirt rubbed in.
Lack of vent holes don't mean anything imo
Still dark out, so any decent pics right now is almost impossible.
        Regards,
        Gary

So, if I understand you correctly John, both Gary's kepi as well as Hritz's that I linked to are fakes? Secondarily, you imply if they didn't sport the SS runes (in silver or gold) that this indicates they're fake?

          hmmm

A couple pics under the sweatband, looks like roman numerals for size markings, often seen.
At John's kepi?...what makes it real?
Chinstrap has alot of wear compared to the rest of the cap, and the runes you usually see on later type visors.
            Remember where here to learn...right?

              Hallo Ruhl

OTTO SCHLIENTZ of STRAUBING used a right-oriented visor with OS monogram, within a circle formed by his name and residence. Previously, this company used an early label with a silver coat-of-arms (above), denomination and residence (in the middle) and the inscrïption Landshut Silberne Medaille 1903 (lower). Unfortunately, in my opinion, this is a quite perfect modern copy (often see on the market). Please, take a close look to the logo: the right-oriented visor-shape (which band is formed by the OS monogram) doesn't show the half-right hoheitsabzeichen...

I 'm not trying to bail out on my wrong opinion but something did ring a bell though, the interior of the Kepi looks way too new and the exteriour looks to roughed up, should have listened to my inner feeling the button and vent holes should have been there, the material as well

I rendered my opinion too quickly about the cap attributed to Joe W. I had thought that this cap was in reference to the thread about SS Kepis and referred to a SS Kepi but after rereading, I see where his kepi is attributed to the FJK. My apology.

As I stated, I do not like the kepis by Gary or Hritz. Rick, I didn't mean to imply that only original kepis have silver or gold runes. I have also seen one that had the typical black interior and was devoid of any markings but did have an RZM label. The typical markings are usually only silver or gold runes.

No argument from me. You can call my cap as you see it.<O

Oh yeah and additionally, I also didn't at all like the one referred to and offered by Craig Gottlieb.

Hi All, Again, bringing this back from the dead, almost 4 years ago now, I know most all comments on this kepi say Janke, just want to confirm positively before it goes to the Bizarre section for sale.
Thank You all for your time.
                          Regards,

Soncerely is a no sense to reply when monster collectors given an opinion. the first thought i had was "janke" due tTue the stitching and the black border.
I suggest to keep than sell for few Euros.

Yes, its Janke. The sweatband and maker mark are dead giveaways.
