It would certainly perplex this officer from the LAH wearing his overcoat with dark collar and political back strap in December 1935. It certainly perplexes me.

Super photo. Allgemeine boards and all. Well Derek, the green collar great coat has to have an M-date? What is it in your opinion?

Sorry, but in my opinion it doesn't have to have a M date. That it is an American military styling that didn't apply to the way that German uniforms were issued or the way they were described in the literature of the time.
You could call the one I posted an M35 overcoat and then I would show you this photo of a member of the SS-Politische Bereitschaften wearing a different cut but with dark collar, political half-belt and single Allgemeine-SS board that was taken in the winter of 1934. The SS described all their uniforms by function not date. Hence the mistaken belief that the field cap with cloth covered peak is an M37 cap when it was, in fact, worn from 1934.

Interesting Derek. Nice back side photos showing the political / SS style belt configuration.

Hahaha as I mentonioned Ive been looking for a black tunic for sometime,I was going to sell the cape to purchase one but changed my mind last minute, but then I change my mind regularly as you say you also do haha.
Tomorrow morning I'll probably decide to pull it from estand who knows.Im just one of those guys who gets the rush from the purchase, and then it wears off after I secure the item usually. Its amazing i can keep teh same stuff for any length of time. I also collect Japanese Robots,1/6 German figures,Records, comics, rare horror films,I have the bug for alot of things. The rush is what its about for me,sometimes I make mistakes that way though, and regret alot of decisions.anyone out there liek that too?haha
Yeah and probably when I get a black one,the hunt will go on for something new.

Derek, thanks once again for sharing your knowledge (and rare pics that I have never seen before). You have cleared up more mysteries on these forums than anyone else I know of.
