Original SS Ring?

I'm trying to find out if this is an original Totenkopf ring der SS Ring for a friend and what it might be worth. His Dad died 2 weeks ago and in his closet he found a box with a German luger, SS Ring, Belt buckle, and officers uniform insignia. A letter in the box said he had taken them from a SS officer during the Battle of the Bulge. he was in the 3rd Armoured Division. The ring is quite worn which would be expected from a ring issued in 1936. It appears to have the hallmarks of an original including the fine pebbling in the backround around the main symbols. IT IS NOT FOR SALE!!! Thanks,for your help, John

The ring looks like an original,with a uncommon date 7.3.36 reoccupation of the Rhineland Birth of the Waffen SS.it was owned biy Georg Bergert Obersturmfuhrer SS#3084.He needs to send it to Don Boyle for a COA.His opinion is the only one that matters if you ever want to sell it.

The ring appears to be authentic, from the engraving alone, but everyone just remember that there are those who have become frustrated trying desperately to make late 40's TK rings, so new fake EARLY rings have appeared. The "Eckardt" ring is an example of one IMO, and has "cast-in" engraving. Don't remember where I saw it. It's most obvious on the "S.lb." area in the event anyone runs across it. As for THIS ring, please photograph the inside engraving by laying the ring on a piece of white parer, and the engraving looks much clearer.

Photos of Engraving

I am posting some new photos taken on a piece of paper as advised to show the engraving better. I cannot post pics of the group of items for a while as my friends mother also died yesterday. Since he is off work on berevement leave I won't see him for a while and don't want to bother him for the other items. The TK ring is all I have at present.

I have found out the info below on the ring recipient so far. Any addtional info would be greatly appreciated. What is a "Stammabt Beg 6" ? How can I find out where he served and what he did in SS?

How do I contact Don Boyle to get the ring authenticated?
