    WSS great coat

Would like to know your opinions about this greatcoat. Apparently a mint Heer coat which has been issued as an SS-coat. Stamping, french cuffs, interior lining all indicate Heer great coat, but

it is quite easy to attach an eagle and there we go, we have the WSS-version.

This one however appears to have the eagle machine attached as from the beginning. Coat is unissued mint condition. As found together with its shoulderboards, but if they were originally attached..........

I have checked stitching on the liner on the inside. I can't find any traces of reopening stitching along the length of the arm. Both arms have been stitched with same thread in same way over the same length. I don not know if pictures will reveal this.

As this coat is in mint condition, and therefore any messing with stitiching easily revealed, I would opt for a real WSS-issued great coat.

Would like to know whether others share my opinion.

    Regards

IMO the coat is original SS. The price for even original SS coat would be the price for the heeres coat plus eagle. approx 800 USD. There is only two SS types exists: one is late war SS KZ made, or early Uebermantel without french cuffs. Normaly SS coat is the same as heeres.
In case of SS BW made coat- which is extremelly rare and absolutely other in cut, price can go higher in triple time

Isn't the lining a little too shiney? in the close-up it even looks possibly polyester. to be sure, take a thread for a "burn test'
I think "chintzey" is the word.(liner fabric)

This SS greatcoat appears in the photos provided as a textbook original in unissued state. Nice example.

super mantel. when did the ss move away from the early pattern with the wide apart rear buttons (see mollo) to the heer-type?

Lining material is typical for an original.
