My gut says no, but then when I look again, I think the bullion work isnt as bad as some I've seen...it just sits a bit fatly on the tabs..the runes seem raised quite a bit more than I have seen....

Dont take my word for it..we need the guns on these.

The runic tab seems to be the twin-brother of the one Mr Jenkins had for sale, only not officers.

Did the bullion get applied over anything or what gives these such a fat appearance? I have a repro set that they embroidered over what looks like cardboard runes...I wonder if this was actually how they did it in ww2. I stay away from SS items but still would like to know because maybe one day I will be able to afford a tab or two.

I knew if I commented one way or the other I was opening my mouth and inserting my foot.

Yes, the original hand embroidered runic tabs, skull tabs, sleeve eagles, cape eagles, etc., were for the most part done over what was called unterlagen...which essentially was a cardboard template.
