    SS Tunics - Kai Winkler

Without wanting to start a debate again about put together tunics..., I was wanting to get some opinions on the SS tunics Kai Winkler has for sale.

For sure I have read certain peoples opinions on both he and Weitze and how so many mint ones seem to come out of the woodwork etc...

Has anyone gone to his shop to check these out in person?

They definitely look too clean to not be suspicious about them being post-war put-together's. Or is there any members here that can vouch for specific pieces having been in collections previously!

I have been mulling over a few of the tunics, although not sure whether to wait for a cheaper private purchase tunic down the track.

Ive been following your threads...and based on what I read you should either get on a plane and go look or just buy one and see for yourself...I hear firestone is having a sale.

Do as John Mentioned or simply save your money and keep looking on the e-stand. Stripped SS tunics come up every now and then. The e-stand will have the best bargains and you can always check with other members if you feel the item needs to be discussed

SS tunics and these dealers has been discussed to death. Just do a search. Jacques

            Wuensche,

I would leave those well alone.

            Nevertheless, one good question remains:

Has anyone seen any of these uniforms before in someone's collection or are these new appearances?

I would put my money on the latter though.

            Cheers, W

P.S.: you should have saved your own uniform at the end of WWII. It would have made a bundle.

I agree with the others- one thing I will say is that if a tunic is not beat up and mint or shows little wear it does not mean it is fake.

Most of the original untouched stuff that survived were dress and service uniforms that were worn on leave or for office duties etc. etc.

Something being in great shape without other red flags should not be dismissed as fake only based on condition.

Act in a patriotic way, do something for our german economy and buy one from a german dealer - at any price

More likely 'Do something for our German cottage industry'.

Well, Dealers are dealers, and i respect Kai as a dealer.Collecting means also dealing, no?
Actually in this period I really like this Uniform.I am upgrading on my bike, so i will not interfere...
                    kind regards,

I can't see a darn thing that would lead anyone to conclude that that tunic is a restoration. It maybe indead be a restoration, but on the otherhand may be 100% legit. Ask Kai if its a restoration and see what he says.
