Hi Guys, came across this old thread on the Helmet forum, but see post #123,
i guess this is why Don does not post on forums, plus he told me he don't like posting on forums.
Also, who helped who on writing a book?
Maybe this is all irrelavant to the subject, but Don has been doing this alot longer...anyway check out what Don has to say to Craig.
    Regards,
    Gary

This can go on and on. This topic has no value whatsoever as some believe this was a setup to discredit Don from the beginning..
To all that don't want to read all these pages of bull**** should read this quote from Craig made at the beginning, this should end all:

"I obviously have an axe to grind with Don Boyle, and don't consider myself unbiased."

Whats true,,yes Craig seems to be involved in a lot of controversy and has in the past asked for Don to cert HRs that is not in his hand. In 06 thru 08 he was still asking Don to check HRs he was having trouble with. I have the emails and have eyes.
Also what is true is that Don for all the years in this hobby has a good reputation. That Don saw a box that he didn't like but still made an offer to purchase[many do this with good fakes] ,and, made an offer too low on a HR. Is that cool? some say no, some applaud the lowball buying of the SS sword at the MAX,,,,go figure...

ROFL. I don't need credentials to say that the post above was off-topic. Do you think 5000+ posts are synonymous with knowledge ?
I have read many books and articles about ss militaria especially THrs.
Nobody here think that Mister Boyle is a gangster. We just think that this story would need (and deserve) a "better" end.
Now, as i posted earlier, i prefer now to see this thread closed as 95% of members don't even allow others to have a small doubt on COAs master.

Anyone who believes the story that the ring was "switched" for another one, need only view these two photos. The "reddish" photos are taken from the photos posted by the family. The other ones are my photos.

Remember, the reddish photos were taken by the seller, before it was mailed to Don, then to me.

What are you banging on about? It is the box we are ALL talking about......except it seems you.

No, actually it was stated that both were somehow "switched" out, as crazy as that would seem. Stand by for my next post - it will be a doozey.

I do not recall that post.

It was the defense used at the show to explain why the certificate was wrong about the ring flaws. Rings missing the flaws are sometimes found, but they are worth far less than a textbook ring with said flaws. Anyway, it was the same defense used to try to explain away the problem with the box review. Also, here is a video that I think clears up the whole matter. It's a recording made between me and the seller of the ring, made on the condition that his name not be used. It might be useful to listen to it once, without the video to distract you.

                          Challenge

When I bought my TK ring from Mr. Boyle over 20 years ago, he sold it to me for about $1000 less than what a similar TK Ring would go for. He also SENT IT TO ME EVEN BEFORE IT WAS FULLY PAID FOR!!! He did this for someone he never even met. Does this sound like someone you'd want to buy from? As for being off topic, HARDLY!! The question goes to credibility. POST A TK RING THAT DON BOYLE DIRECTLY SOLD TO ANYBODY THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH!! JUST ONE!! WHERE IS IT? WE'RE WAITING..................................

                            rINGS

(The dark forces are now huddled, oatmeal pooled in the corners of their mouths, and rubbing their hands together like excited little flies) "We've got to come up with SOMEONE..........ANYONE.... who bought a TK Ring from Mr. Boyle and is willing to say they are unhappy." But, unfortunately, even if they manage to find a homeless man in a stupor, to masquerade as an unhappy buyer, they still have to post a photo of the ring. You see, what we have here is NOT a "failure to c'mu-icate", but a classic example of "MACHINATIONS". If you don't know what that means, look it up. Johnny Cochran was the "Master of Machinations" during a certain famous trial. He would be proud of you. NOW WHERE'S THE UNHAPPY BUYER?

Enjoy the video, and the audio. I think it makes everything pretty clear, what happened, after you listen to this young man, whose family lost thousands of dollars as a result of what happened.

I'm the guy that offered $11,500 for the ring and box. This was before seeing the certificate which caused me to back out. Below are two emails from the original owner concerning the sale of the ring. The first one is a response to my initial offer and the second is a response to my request to see a picture of the certificate. I have never had any dealings or contact with either Craig Gottlieb or Don Boyle.

                                John,

I would be happy to sell you the ring for $11,500, but I feel like I need to make you aware of a few things first. I had Don Boyle look at it and he said he is 100% sure that the ring is original and is giving me a COA for it. However he said it is important to note that it does not have a dye flaw which some people look for in a ring. In addition he is not giving me a COA for the box because he believes it is a late forties-early fifties replica. I personally am very very skeptical that the box is a replica since the soldier who acquired these was sent home right after the war and just would not of go out of his way to get a box. It also looks to me like it's never been worn or dug from the ground which also leads me to believe it was boxed its whole life. But I have no way of proving this and obviously Don is the expert not me. Please let me know soon whether or not you are still interested in the ring since I have several offers and will be making a decision shortly.

                                Thanks,

                                Robert

                                John,

Here is the photo you requested. I assumed it would change your offer, do you have a new one? I'm most likely going to ship it out today cause I need cash asap(I'm currently unemployed) so if interested please reply soon.

                                Thanks,

                                Robert

                                Thanks,
