WOW! Nice!!!! Its indeed been heavily tailored with even pleats added to the pockets! Are the bottom pockets without bellows? It appears so!
Would not be that hard to identify the owner based on rank and the fact he's a doctor assigned to 14 "Galizien" Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS".
    Amazing find!!!

    Good tunic for this thread;
"Does anyone know of a credible SS officer uniform out there???????????????? "

          Thanks Friends!
Missing the picture of the SS rune tab, my friend forgot to send me the picture with the others, I personally examinated the tunic and I remember it was a later machine embroidered Officer model, I hope to post soon the picture after he returned from holiday.
The tunic probable will be available for sell , he is selling some nice pieces of his collection through me at the moment.

              Nick!
could be fantastic to found something about the original owner, it was a doctor in the galizien, sure after or in 1943 , the tunic is a Betr.ra M43...
              maybe someone can help?

                Yes Nick,
for what I remember the bottom pockets are without bellow, like in the officer style.

The tunic was found in this condition, untouched, in the red cross bags, in Prato ( Italy) in the early '80, where were collecting them for the recycling wool and cotton.
It 's a m43 tunic, made by Betr.Ra and adapted for a medical Officer member of the Galizien division.
It belong from a Friend of mine and this is the tunic history he told me.
                  IMO really a nice tunic.

Wonderful tunic and glad it was found in Italy. About 12,000 Ukrainians were interned as POWs in Rimini, Italy perhaps there is where it came from.

Alter Kämpfer? wow i have no idea that 'Galizien" has old fighters in pre war time,if this will be a real deal ,why the officer has used SS tab?,"and 'Galizien" shild? why not galizien colar tab ,if he was german -with runen on brest pocket? how it was in Prinz Eugen div. i dont like this set. and thats my opinion.

                      that it's elementary...
The doctor probable was Alterkampfer before joyn the Galizien Division, seing the rank...Almost always german and not german officers, members of the freiwillige divisions worn rune SS tabs instead the simbols tabs.....How you can observe in the Book "EUROPAISCHE FREIWILLIGE" IM BILD by Heinz Ertel/Richard Shulze-Kossens.
How you wrote the rune on pockets was expecially worn on prinz Eugen Division...and SS Polizei Division...Thanks for the comment.

It would be VERY easy to be extremely skeptical of this set-up.

An SS doctor (an endangered species at the end of the war in 2 ways) assigned to a sought after foreign volunteer unit with all it's insignia still attached .....

Ho yes, I understand perfectely...it's a rare find.
I was really surprised when I examinated the tunic, but I didnt found nothing wrong...just I dont know nothing about the volunter shield....so I wanted to be sure on it before post the entire tunic...

I say let's wait for better photos when Lorenzo gets it in hand, and some research gets done in the mean time on this units medical officers. I think the shield is really interesting and the whole uniform merits further study before the torches and pitch forks come out. It could go either way, but if you attack something right out of the chute...why bother to show any more.

                            Keep us posted Lorenzo,
