            Good eye for detail Chris!
It's not a Zimmermann like you stated, it's a zinc Deschler and quite rare!

Chris is correct !! My eye is not sharp as Chris yet I see that the grey zinc color on this piece is lighter than the usual dark grey i had seen on crimp in pins m1/52

In my experience, most all types of zinc insignias can be found of lighter toned zinc or dark, (probably due to the exact alloy compositions and aging as well).

                Best,

                Chris

                  Thanks for replys.
Ok, an Deschler zink not like the regular M1/52.
I am not sure what crimps means..? Maybe someone can explane?
                  Thanks

                      G,

Crimps are the holders of the prongs on the back of the skull.
                      They are not soldered.

                        Skull

"Niederlander" says that a zinc Deschler is rare. Do you mean a "crimped" one or ANY zinc Deschler? Thanks!!

NOT the regular zinc Deschler with discs , but the one with crimps is ( VERY ) rare .
It was discussed here also - until the subject was taken over >> http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=424144

                              And here .. >> http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...52#post3931052

Note that Deschler now added ( along with other revisions , like a prolonged base of the skull and a more " hollow " jawbone ) a crack under the nose , causing the confusion with ZIMMERMANN ..
