The badge that started the thread is similar to the graphics on Unit level competition awards for Soldiering etc. There are also things like this design found on the award plaques and marksmanship plates.

      Hello Ohlau,

I do know what is truth and what is not and I invite you to do the same.

And I do know what released polish POW´s did to my family and my hometown Fürstenau in Westphalia on the late 29th of July 1945 - so let history be history and not what you call "bulls***", ok?

OK, back to the roots: does anybody knows the background of the badge since I do not and maybe some other collectors here would like to know as well.

        Can anybody enlighten us?

          Ohlau,

Very sorry about the plane crash and loss of Polish President Kaczynski.
All of us here in the states have you and Poland in our prayers.

          May God be with you.

The place to look would be catalogs for prewar Schutzenfest medals etc. and Military marksmanship awards, table medals etc. It is IMO just a soldiering theme for marksmanship and grenade throwing. We had these competitions as well with weapons use in the US Army and the BW.

It would appear that this badge is, in fact, a Stahlhelmbund item..............worn on the lower left sleeve by members who were ex-army trained infantrymen.

Many fakes on that site...............but at least the uniform shows this badge in wear.

                              You have my deepest sympathy!

Still, look on the bright side..................you have missed the political shenanigans going on here today. In case you didn't know, Nick Clegg is the Deputy Prime Minister!

The good Dr. was in FK Haas.

Can't find any reference to him being in the Stahlhelm.

Still, the Dirlewanger collar tab was probably designed by a functionary at the SS-FHA in any case. Maybe he/she was in the Stahlhelm!

Yes, using the two most common weapons by the Germans during the First World War within the confines of a tiny patch there must be direct a connection. Science is fun.
