I fail to see why ..?

These Wagners '39 in Zinc came with 2 different types of prong attachment . Doesn't look cast - just a bit rough .. ?

The 475/39 style has been in debate for some time now.
Some say it is good, others have said the sloppy detailing is not a good one.

I did a search for you and the most relevant thread came in here.

I agree with Winkelman that the detailing seems a bit rough. could it be a copy?

If we're talking about the maker 475/39, as far as I understand, both experienced collectors had different points in the past.
Chris felt that it was a good one, while Brad felt that it wasnt. so this piece again will be a debate.
Two types of this marker that i have seen:

Also notice the roughness around the edges of Chris' eagle - easily mistaken for a sign of casting , but IMHO not a problem with these .

Here's a good comparisson of the 2 styles of prong attachment , posted by DTrooper ..

What I WOULD like to know - while on the subject - is if there is an ORIGINAL version of the 475/39 with a STROKED 7 .. ??

I am not a fan , I do not believe this is a good one but it's up to the buyer. My view has not changed old known fakes are now being accepted because they are old. Why waste your money on an item that will be accepted by some and rejected by others, buy Cupal and sleep easy

I liked the obverse @ first glance, but,,I'll be counted among the doubters.

I must admit that the " Wagner-family " has lost much credit due to the zinc 475/42 & 475/43 repro's that took a lot of people by surprise some 20 years ago - including me .

I kept this 475/43 ( never existed ) - notice that the detail may be even better than on some of the zinc originals . Fortunately the pins were all bad - in hindsight ..

Numerous vet acquired original eagle variations. Absolutely original.
                            Same maker as M1/8.

                            Best,

                            Chris
