        Hi Brig,

The stitching of the runes do look strange to me.

        Best regards,

        Rene

              Brig,
the size is OK on the detail of the runic, but better pictures of the whole tab front and back is what is needed they are too small on the other site
              cheers,
              Gary

I know that both Tony and Gary is better than me on this, but to me the threading in the SS runes show a criss cross pattern instead of a fine flow in one direction. The edges is a bit to loose on the runes as well. To me they are not original, based on that.

                  Cheers.

this tab is from a guy who has 4 others, not all runic, and 3 of the 4 others people have liked and the guy says these all came from the same place, so I hope you're not offended when I say I hope you're wrong, but I appreciate the help

I don't really see a criss-crossing, if you look at both close-ups of the Runes it seems that most of it is straight, also

I'd like to get Gary or Tony's opinion on this. Or both, heh heh

I'm learning, too, but I don't like the tab. The stitching of the runes looks weird, to me. I'm more used to the neat, diagonal aluminum thread embroidery, with tight, side by side stitches.
Maybe this is a correct "variant", but I'd shine them on with the limited experience I have.

The patch looks OK to me, the photo's look a bit odd but that is probably the angle they are taken at and the lighting/flash, the finish on runic's do vary dependant on maker and time period.

this runic looks like it has had something on top of it that has left an impression on the runic emblem on the left, also it looks like something has been spilt on the item as well hence the stain in the lower portion, and it has got damp over a period of time again staining to the buckram and the lack of a shine to the water based glue, this was also apparent on 2 of the other patches in the group, the other runic and hanschar patch,

                            cheers,
                            Gary

yes, he talked about water stains. I think he found these in an attic
