    Sepp Dietrich's WW1 Tank Badges

I see that Andreas Thies has BOTH of Dietrich's WW1 Tank Badges for auction in December.

They come with a lot of other very high quality attributed Dietrich items, including his LAH presentation ring, which he was often seen wearing during the war.

The first pattern tank badge is a real eye-opener.

The second pattern (standard type) is also a real beaut.

Both are made in silver, with the first pattern being completely hand-done.

As far as I know, this is the first time that a first pattern has actually been available for seeing up close.

Also the first time an attributed second pattern has been available for sale, I think.

Aye, it looks like he's potted the pink !

Is this an early game of 'not making Uncle Sepp look like a short arse' ?

Dietrich's first pattern appears to have been hand-made, using the original citation as a 'template'........................

.............but he seems to have forgotten it when this photo was taken.

Unusual to see him without the badge.
