    Kris ,

follow another link in there , and you'll find the picture I meant >> http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=165732

It shows an " unmarked Assmann " , but looking at it again , I think it is ALSO the same phenomenon that started this thread , i.e. a 3-pronged that has been CONVERTED by filing them off ( look at the 3 corners ) & adding pins on the reverse .
Maybe to give it the better known " Ges. Gesch. " look - or would a period conversion make any sense here ?

It would mean that there is only 1 type of unmarked Assmann , and that is the 3-pronged one .
Other opinions are very welcome , as I consider myself to be only a ( dedicated ) student in these matters ..

Based on the montage above it has inconsistencies on the reverse details, especially bottom left and the reverse of the teeth. Another thing to bear in mind is that period repair often just meant sewing the badge on in the corners NOT attempting to resolder another type of pins on.

In my honest opinion (and that's all it ever is) is that this has had these pins soldered on recently and deliberately to deceive.
