I have seen this sort of thing on Crucifixes before...perhaps this is for a wall-hanging variety...

Another explanation....but I think as already said, it really has no military relation.

        Bob,
That is a very nice & classic example. Looks like some type of funerary ornament.
The crucifix idea is good too, especially Catholic, as many Germans were.
If G.I.'s were looking for war souvenirs, probably any skull would be good game, especially with the notorious TK reputation. I guess in time of war, any removable skull would be taken, providing there was the opportunity.
I hope some one can come up with a period pic of one. Good luck.
I have some nice war period paper poison labels...."Giftig"

Poison labels for poison bottles? Is that what you mean. ? Most poison bottles have points sticking out ofthe glass sides to make them discernable from other bottles if thats what you mean. I have thought this cast iron skull it might look good riveted to my nazi jeep.hhahaha.

I have always liked a lot the old fashioned German alchimist stuff.
Of course, I bought it empty!

                          Mr. Teach

I think this matching set of Cast Skulls belong on both sides of the Pistol Grip of one William Teach know as "Blackbeard". He wore a Brace of 6 Pistols with a Skull on every handle. That makes 12, so they are somewhat rare. He is reputed to be Eicke's Great Grandfather.

                              Dr.S.,
Why do you trivialize a serious discussion? It's a known fact that vets brought these skulls back. We are trying to figure it out and you come and throw in this silly stuff? O.k., o.k., I should lighten up, right? But, we are trying to resolve a question that Bob has proposed. Please be a little more respectful. p.s. sorry to sound harsh but, but c'mon.
                              Best regards,
                              John Pen.

P.s.s. sorry T.K. and others I will post my (2) labels when I stop procastinating soon. promise.
