Please guys stop your harsh comments towards each other! We are all here to solve problems. Do not respond to each other in a way that you are forced to build hostile camps and walls, due to egos, that will last for the future. That is one of the worst scenarios for the future of the forum! No need to rub salt in to wounds and no need disguise what might be the truth! We have already seen members leaving the forums due to such conflicts.
Tear down your egos and accept matters, opinions and current conditions. Treat poeple like you would have wanted to be treated your self in the current situation!
It disgusts me to see that we fight among each others for no reason. The classic term pissing match is what these events truly are. Please get back to topic all of you with comments that are relevant for the evaluation of the tabs posted.
Lets get back to topic, PLEASE!

I agree let's just get back to the important issue of discussing the items themselves and ignore that trivial matter that someone tried to use this forum to commit a multi-thousand-dollar fraud.
"Beating around the bush" is being unclear. I, on the other hand, believe that I have made my thoughts abundantly clear, despite the fact that I have chosen a bit of a sarcastic manner in which to communicate them.

Brad, chill a bit and let the guys with knowledge about skull tabs discuss the matter and it will be solved. The sale is withdrawn and now we are focusing on solving the facts and reaching a conclusing.
Want to participate?
Then stop the attacks even though you are are correct. We all know that things need to stand on their own.

YOU have never discussed any item but that was never your aim.
Sorry for getting in on this thread late. The tab pictured in first posting is the known fake that came out around two years ago. As my fellow esteemed SS cloth collectors have already mentioned, there are several differences between known originals and these fakes. I was offered the set of tabs two years ago by a gentlemen from Italy, which I will not mention his name. At first glance, I was excited for the kind offering, but as I started to study the picture I noticed something odd about them. I cannot find a piture of the reverse side, but they all had paper tags with different manufacturer codes, but if you look at the fronts, then you will see the same traits which proved they came from the same machine run. That, too me, was a huge clue that they were clever fakes and the latest ones on the market. I remember having a conversation with Jim Toncar about this, which we both agreed and had the same conclusion about them. Its sad to think how many people were going to get burned by these and how fast they were going to appear on the market. I was told they were being made by someone in France, but as you can see, they were being distributed by individuals in Italy. Wether or not they were in business together on this venture, who knows?? , but they are getting clever and better with the reproductions.
I must ask that we (SS Cloth collectors) band together and be very careful what we point out here on the forum what we see and know, when comparing these fakes to known originals. Its nothing personal, but I wouldn't mind holding on to the value of my collection. If you know what I mean.
Anyway, here are the pics: First the fake ones offered to me two years ago. sorry I couldn't find the pics of the back sides.
Second, the originals from my collection. I also have another diamond one and EM vertical on the same tunic that is pictured in Beaver's book.
I would like to thank Grant for providing us with the best information in that thread. After he mentioned italy I remember that I was offered a TK from there too about the same time he was offered these three but the one offered to me didn't have a number (I think), I must see if I still have a picture. From my memory I can't say if the design was the same but back then I passed.
Also a big thank you to those who contributed with knowledge and information and I hope that Robert and Lorenzo don't take it personally that I rather wanted to have the issue discussed. They were both right.
I do now believe that the TK tab posted by me is a fake pattern and admit that I was wrong in my believe in them. I have asked Gary to put the skull tab picture in the fake section so that at least a good picture of that design is available.
One question remains and that is the question about the rank tab. Do you all believe it to be bad too? It is evident that it was added to the TK tab.
Well said Grant. I remember a conversation we had at the same time these tabs surfaced and I can confirm all the information you had posted above. These tabs have quickly disappeared in collections around the world sadly enough.
Great. Everyone now agrees that the tab in question is a fake. I believe that fact was actually well established by other forum members a while ago in this thread, but Grant's contribution certainly seems to have eliminated any lingering doubt (resistance) in anyone's mind.
So, can we now move on to resolving the issue of who was involved and to what degree in the clear attempt to commit a fraud using this forum? Lest anyone accuse me of trying to pursue some sort of personal grudge, I will gladly remain out of the discussion going forward, but I believe it needs to be pursued and answers are owed to this community, which have not been provided.
