LOl the same box? As long as I can get 45 EUR for the one definite original ss figure I am in profit so it isn't that big a deal for me. Ofcourse I never imagined that they would fake a box. As for current prices no idea I have seen the more important and elaborate figures for a lot of money if it is realistic I don't know

BTW what are the fakes made of? You said resin? The other ss figures do not seem to differ in construction that much except the one lying down that one looks god aweful.

      cheers

I felt my heart sink as I progressed through the thread. I have been there is something I was thinking ,and know many of us also have. Is nothing safe?

It absolutely sickens me that people go to such an extent to fool. I do appreciate accurate reproductions for reenacting, .....but creating a purposely aged item for the unsuspecting collector just shows another low point in humanity. Its almost not surprising. It stands right beside not shipping an items after its been sold or selling one item multiply times.

Sometimes it feels that this is a horrible hobby to be in. Whats next? Fishing lures?

Same here I would have never imagined someone would go through the trouble of faking a damn box.
You only find out how many scumbags there are on this planet when you start collecting SS.

The SS tab on the front is a big red flag. That is obviously something that is designed to lure in a collector and not a child in WWII Germany. Having the date on there is suspect too. What would a child care about November 1937?

It managed to lure one child in,me since I was like 12 or 13 when I got this for the cool looking soldiers along with the others me and my dad collected over the years before switching interests. Never occurred to me it might be a fake. Now if I can work out how much those ss figures cost and how many of those ss figures are real I can find out if I have been had

Yes, but you weren't a German child in the 1930's. The box in post #18 looks, oddly enough, like a 1930's toy box! Look at the wonderful art-deco styling. No giant TK's, etc. No "This was really made in November, 1937!!!" blazing across the front.

We have a lot of SS dishes, pipes, ashtrays, etc. posted in this forum. Some of them are quite silly. People should take into consideration for whom, what, why, and when the items would have been made.

For example, can anyone see a proud SS Mann stamping out his cigarette butt on the SS runes? Would a soldier today have an item like that?
