The SS marcher 2nd from right is an original Lineol figure, but the others are all reproductions.
If you compare the moldings/paint on that figure with the others, you will see the difference in quality.
The box is a fantasy item. Lineol made a few illustrated boxes, but nothing like this one. I think these sets were made in germany, but long after 1945...

Well that sucks if its true. Got anything to back that up? Not saying that they wouldn't fake a toy (box) since they fake everything out there no matter how small. I looked at the soldiers and really can't see a great difference in the quality except for maybe the one lying down.

Are the fakes made from the same composition material?

I have seen reproductions of Lineols in both metal and resin. A company bought the rights to the Lineol name, they are making new figures (different poses than the originals) for collectors, not meant to fool anyone.

Outright fakes would be hard to manufacture, the process of molding these with the wire/wood armatures in them would be much more difficult than just molding one of of resin. The main issue with collecting these are not the outright fakes, but repainted original figures.

Just 20 years of collecting them....

Here is an original Lineol box for a toy model of the 21cm field howitzer. They did make boxes for figure sets, but they were covered in red paper with a generic "Lineol" color label.

The figures on your box look like photocopies made of Elastolin (not even Lineol!) catalog illustrations.

Lineol maintained a high level of quality throughout production (the factory was converted to war production, artillery fuses (I think) ~ 1943.

Hausser kept up production longer, to the point where the quality of molding suffered a bit, and painting too. The field gray army uniforms were made in brownish colors, apparently due to wartime shortages. But even those figures (known as kriegsproduktion to collectors) are well made, here are 2 versions, one early and one wartime.

There are 2 books available on German composition figures/tin toys, the War Toys I (on Hausser-Elastolin) and the War Toys II (on Lineol), if you at all interested in these, they are a must buy.

Well, you have finger and thumb prints all over the fake label on the box. Maybe you can track them down. The box and the figures certainly would have fooled me had I seen them in an antique shop. Pretty sad.

But why are some members confirming the box is original? This is confusing the hell out of me.

I do not think anybody confirmed it was an original box, I think the initial reaction was that it was a fantastic set, but when you look at the details your heart sinks, for example look at the crude lettering to the box and the over-sized fingerprint...perhaps it was a blow-up of a smaller design/advert made into a label for a box...also note the weird staining patterns on the box....it is like when you buy a great badge or piece of cloth at a show and you are all excited but then you get home and you start to notice things that are not kosher and your heart sinks and the next day you feel like crap....

Nah I don't collect this any more this part of the collection is from many years ago when I was a boy it was a shared hobby between me and my dad it was somewhat affordable then also before I had a computer or internet (not that that would have helped since google keeps changing my Lineol search to Lionel).

No need to feel bad I didn't pay much for the box and at current prices I think the one SS figure covers the cost plus a bit of a profit.

I left the whole millitaria field for a couple of years and had 2 other hobbies but now I am back to this field mainly due to my family history

I am purely focussing on Cloth SS insignia now and only buying from dealers recommended on here so I don't get shafted you don't get the great bargains but at least you know its real.

The box ofcourse has been shunned form the display cabinet and banished to the shoebox of shame.
