    Gee,
60 posts and only ONE actually addresses the physical details of the wrap. What a load of hot air. I have noticed this trend on this and other militaria forums, a lot of failed comedians trying to outdo each other with feeble attempts at sarcasm and wit. What a sad portrait of our hobby.

      Thanks Steve

Quite right, I agree with you there.

I just found this in Michael D Beaver's book Uniforms of the Waffen SS page 771, Scarce assault gun uniform, this if I'm not mistaken has pink shoulder board edging.

ok here is my opinion abaut the wrapp in question, its a tailor made one,but since
last 10 years i have seen many SS stug wrapp made like this one, most with name tag privat made,ok it can be but a fraud star from France with name caravano or so,has sold many made like this one ,ofcours repros made on hes order in czech republic, and realy the pink piping on boards is not a big problem here. imo this one is caravano work and no one can chang my opinion.

Every other forum I hang out on, whether it's to do with military collectables, classic cars, computers or whatever, they all have a rule that you can't just join and start selling, hell, you can't even get get access to the sales threads on most of them without posting at least 10 or 20 posts. That just seems like common sense to me and underlines the need for you, as a member, to interact with other forum members and not just see it as a free ads for whatever you want to sell.
Tell me I'm not alone on this, please!!
Ben; I agree with you .

Steve, When you make comments like those above I wonder what exactly what physical details on this wrap do you think would need to be addressed in order to prove it is good or is a fake? Maybe you should re-read or read (or not) my previous on this wrap.

There may well be NO specific detail that is a show stopper or show starter about this wrap...

I think that a good place to start would be the insignia. I agree with the Doc and do not like the bright boards....possible but not likely. If you can baseline for me what a private purchase/custom made wrap will look like I will be happy to compare this one to that standard.

I would look at the boards first as well, if the bases look like they have been added to Army dress or LW boards then that is one problem identified without speculation. They could be tailor made but that would seem very unlikely and would be against regulations etc. PostWar creations, even if very carefully made of period materials usually fall apart under careful scrutiny. The boards are a good place to start kicking tires.

Pink piped boards or straps are NOT a problem on assault gun wrappers... they are Panzerjager. So let's get on with the authenticity of this piece and quit quibbling about subjects that are not applicable.

Bob, I mean they are the bright russian braid with Pink piping indicating they may be LW engineering or dress Army for Panzer and have had a black based added. If everything else floats I would have no problem seeing any waffenfarbe on it even if it was for a SS Dentist.

We should add the image to this thread for easier reference.
I personally prefer to see non shiny slip-on boards (like post 62) but because its a privately tailored piece shiny sew-ins are not off base!
Shiny ones + sew-in style could have been customer preference...for his "best dress" uniform.

jhodgson is not attacking the rosa piping of the boards only questioning the use of bright braid and maybe the construction.

I think that most are past the branch color business as it is possible that most any branch could have found an angle to wear a wrap ..more so late in the war....when this one would have HAD to have been made if it is real.

NickG's point seems to collaborate the points that I tried to make earlier that most any detail and characteristic that can be seen on this wrap from the photos can be explained by some kind of possible scenario.....I still do not think that it is an orginal one, but I doubt that I can prove that.

Irregularities can be explained away...I agree. Possible scenario: perhaps the tailor who was contracted to make this piece, specialized in civilian uniforms..."Zivil" statement on tag... (like postal, customs) but got the order to make this one and added sew-in boards because that was his method...(almost always seen on zoll uniforms btw)

I am not a wrapper expert but I like it! and I believe that the biggest red flag for many is the reasonable asking price...a 'too good to be true" issue comes up...and people have doubts.... At least it does not have RBnr or Bet.Ra stamps in addition to the tailor tag! Wrappers (SS or WH) are a mine field for the less experienced (like myself)...

I am saying it is best to look at the individual elements etc. and then draw a conclusion. Repeating that it is fake like a mantra without indicating why does not teach us anything or help us reach a conclusion.

Even if it is bad we will still learn something. If it is a fake it is certainly done at a professional level and capacity that is very unusual to see. I would like to see details on the black base of the boards and compare them to known originals.
