On your site you have a postcard for the SS Liebstandarte, but also indicate there is a poster of same. The poster should have printer identification on the bottom, I'm just trying to figure out what printer information should be on the bottom of an original. Is the below what I should be looking for? Thanks. Scott
Hi Scott - No that's not the text I would expect to see.

There is a member here who has a known original of that poster who might be able to confirm what is on his poster.

Normally I would expect something like:

"Herausgegeben Vom SS-Hauptamt.............." with the address of the SS Head Office involved.

Any news from Belgium about the artist José Bertau?
      Someone can help me?
It would be very useful. Harm

Yes it could be a stylized "J". The names are so close it's a bit much to be a coincidence unless maybe there were a couple of brothers or some other family connection.

Harm - any idea who owns that poster?

Well they got a great poster.

I now have this one in hand and I'll see if I can take some detailed photos to post - the SS Panzer Commander in particular has some very good detail to him that you can't see in this photo.

I wonder how many of those French SS posters survived? The French seem to have gone pretty "wild" after they were liberated. Collaborators, mainly women, having their heads shaved among other things.

I would hazard a guess that any SS posters were quickly destroyed. However, in comparison there seems to be quite a few surviving LVF posters.

                            Hi Patrick,

Yes I was just reading about some of it in various countries like Holland.

Without turning the thread into a political debate about collaborating, I'm just trying to relate it back to destruction of propaganda posters to see if there is any connection.

I would guess the more anti the population was about the German occupation the more posters were destroyed, rather than kept as a souvenir.
