I wonder how many SS poster books are being worked on at the moment by people who as far as I know have no knowledge of posters at all? I know of two so far.

Myself and Max have been approached by one guy and Wolfslair knows about the other book.

Anyone else got a poster book in the works?

                Hi,

it will be interesting to see the content of those books.
I must say that i was quite surprised by the conversation with the guy, but well, we will see. There is still a massive amount of unanswered questions on the SS posters subject.

                See You

I have a new arrival tomorrow...

And how many here are savvy enough to know about getting paid for your photos and Usage Contracts for those photos?

I was in the photo industry for twenty years and I'm still surprised at how many people are willing to just hand over photos to publishers (or worse - direct to the authors) without a contract. The publishers and authors make money from those books but they often expect gullible people will hand over photos for free and without a contract limiting the use of the photos.

I still haven't seen a contract from the publishers that contacted me, although they did specify a price.

I'm not really willing to deal with places that are not professional. I supplied one poster photo to the publishers for Professor Umberto Eco and they were totally professional in their approach. I hadn't heard of him before that; but he wrote the book "The Name of the Rose" which was made into a movie in 1986 with Sean Connery and Christian Slater.

So just be a bit cautious if you guys decide to provide photos to any of these people.

                      Hi,

you are totally right Tony, fortunately for myself i don't own a lot of posters, and i wasn't asked anything in particular.
But i suspect that many pictures from various auctions will be used...

I know that it is maybe not the best topic to discuss it, but what is your own advice in the case of we own a rare poster/a rare picture, and someone wants to use it in a book ?
What kind of legal clauses do we have to carefully look after ?
And what amount of money can we ask (and can we ask for some copies of the book in return as alternate deal) ?

                      See You

                      Vince

                          New Additon

At long last, I am pleased to have an original of the iconic Mjolnir poster. Needs restoration, but still pretty nice to get. It was pretty reasonable too, given what some are listed for these days. Enjoy!

                            Very nice..!

Also nice to see this one has the recruitment address details printed on the poster like mine rather than a pasted on strip of paper.

You have certainly blown a wad on some nice pieces lately...

Thanks Max. Yes, I know, that's probably it for me for awhile. Now will need to get a few of these linen-back and protected, so funds will go towards that.

This was one though I could not let go and was around the price of some more common types, so that was also a factor.

It always helps when you can make a good deal on a nice piece...

Bargains are few and far between these days unfortunately...
