And how many here are savvy enough to know about getting paid for your photos and Usage Contracts for those photos?
I was in the photo industry for twenty years and I'm still surprised at how many people are willing to just hand over photos to publishers (or worse - direct to the authors) without a contract. The publishers and authors make money from those books but they often expect gullible people will hand over photos for free and without a contract limiting the use of the photos.
I still haven't seen a contract from the publishers that contacted me, although they did specify a price.
I'm not really willing to deal with places that are not professional. I supplied one poster photo to the publishers for Professor Umberto Eco and they were totally professional in their approach. I hadn't heard of him before that; but he wrote the book "The Name of the Rose" which was made into a movie in 1986 with Sean Connery and Christian Slater.
So just be a bit cautious if you guys decide to provide photos to any of these people.

Hi,
you are totally right Tony, fortunately for myself i don't own a lot of posters, and i wasn't asked anything in particular.
But i suspect that many pictures from various auctions will be used...
I know that it is maybe not the best topic to discuss it, but what is your own advice in the case of we own a rare poster/a rare picture, and someone wants to use it in a book ?
What kind of legal clauses do we have to carefully look after ?
And what amount of money can we ask (and can we ask for some copies of the book in return as alternate deal) ?
See You
Vince

You have certainly blown a wad on some nice pieces lately...
This was one though I could not let go and was around the price of some more common types, so that was also a factor.

Bargains are few and far between these days unfortunately...
