I need to clarify why m-e-h-t 's example is deemed un-authentic?
The reason for my concern is as follows:
Both these eagles are the same in production method (pressed/die strike).
( Sorry to inform you all, but this is not a casting )
Both have similar pin attachment methods (soldered/braised)
    Both are similar in weight.
Mine is non magnetic/ the other is.
    Both have no makers mark.
m-e-h-t's example has far greater detail.
In your opinion, why is m-e-h-t's example a repro? What production method
differs from my examples production method?
If m-e-h-t's eagle is indeed a repro given the above concerns, then what's to say mine is not original?
sorry but differences are visible on first look

    Brad thx

The differences that I can see more clear in this thread is the doubtless fact that some persons/collectors are involved here who have something to do with each other/know each other while the german owner of the eagle - which piece initially started this thread! - does not.

C´mon - show me doubtless evidence that m-e-h-t´s eagle is not an original piece.

If you don't like the explanation that has been given by some well respected collectors, and you think the lack of detail is fine, then you are on you own.. You can never prove a negative so have at it!

If you have looked at the e-stand over the past few months you will have seen a number of "questionable" pieces that just sit around after numerous reductions.. This is because people are not going to spend their hard earned money on a maybe..

Other than the eagle being magnetic, there is nothing wrong with the eagle.

As Brad has shown, the eagles are constructed the same. The actual eagle is not the same manufacturer, and hopefully we don't assume we have seen and cataloged all examples from our very small ratio of surviving eagles.

As I've stated, other services used steel planchets in the manufacture of cap devices. The lack of silver paint is no issue; most army steel ones also started service with a full treatment of silver paint and have nothing to show for it today.

No one has said anything to convince me this eagle is bad. Brad's less detailed, non-magnetic, and identically MANUFACTURED eagle is also good, IMO. However, to make it sound like sage advice is being ignored from those who have presented cogent arguments against the eagle that started this thread is off. The discussion should continue - this eagle could be good.

            regards, Robert
