That is one beautiful picture for sure..
If it ever needs a new home, you can always drop me a line.

Although I really value these parkas highly, I still prefer the first pattern, pullover style. They have that particular look to them.

                Regards;
                Vincent S.

(sorry my scanner didn't work so had to take a photo)

Interesting picture! Does the boy wear a fieldgray StuG-wrapper under the parka? They seem to be dressed with everything available in the last months of the war. But that does not question the exclusive wear of those uniforms by the Waffen SS, as the HJ-boys and Volkssturm were no regular troops but civilian combatants.

A Wehrmacht unit dressed in those uniforms (not in case of concrete hardship at the front), would it be possible? Was the supply of the different organisations strictly seperated or did they get the stuff from the same source?

                          Hi Guys,

I realize this thread was started last year but I couldn't resist to add several nice clear shots of the Italian camo anoraks being worn during the end of the war. Both photos were taken in Germany in early 1945.

The photo posted by Georg Steiner definietly proves the rumor I had always heard over the years. Which was the left over unissued stocks of both fieldgray and Italian 3rd model Waffen-SS fur anoraks were used by members of the Czech military.
                          Thanks for posting this photo!

                          regards,
                          Remy

Keep in mind that both photos posted do not show soldiers who are in the Waffen-SS.

I believe they are simply young teenage conscripts activated from the local HJ district who were then issued all types of winter clothing to keep warm.

To prove my point I will post the whole photo so you can see the other HJ kids who were captured together with the young man wearing the Italian camo anorak.

Also if you look carefully and you will see that he is wearing the following layered items to keep warm.

                            -athletic top suit with zipper
                            -dark wool HJ tunic
                            -civilian wool dress jacket
                            -arnorak.

                            regards,
                            Remy
