W-SS Cut-Off Insignia/Buyer Beware

This skull and eagle set was purchased from the Estand several months ago.


Always interesting to see them sold as original cut-off's. I know for a fact the dealer selling these has no idea,so not his fault.

The exact same M43 hat posted in the above thread by Lenny W (at the time I did not know it was the same) was sold on a dealer website several months ago with NO insignia applied.

Whoever bought the hat,bought the insignia from Estand and re-applied it to the M43...When he found out the base hat was bad, he cut the insignia off and sold them.

Would a real collector do such a thing to another collector? I mean a dealer I understand. Ok, OK not ALL dealers..before a get a bunch of P.M.'s

I don't mean to jump the tread here but it got me thinking why the guy (seller) didn't just dump it at a show or Manion's? But Here? Just asking to get busted.

A vets son gave me this piece as a scrap along with other items I had purchased. Hope he didn't get taken on this one by his dad!?

The stitching overkill on those two pieces is a giveaway. Sort of reminds me of the LW 'panzer beret' seen recently....
