It is silvered CupAl. Take a look at the cheek bone; you can see the expposed copper where the silver finish has worn trough.

              Damn rare TK!

now thats is rare, first time me see a cupal SP40 i will gladly give my arm for it

now for members who are wondering why my friend Cysior and tk collectors could recognise SP40 is because they know the certain features of it. we know deschler and zimmerman tk facial looks like, so let's discuss the SP40 with a diagram. a dummy guide to recognising sp40 at the front.

                  ak.jpg

                  1) the last 4 tooth on the left is slanted
                  2) the nasal end is located more underneath the left eye socket
                  3) the suture lines, unliked deschler is defined by strokes of dots. SP40 suture lines is linked continously in zig-zag line manner

i won't discuss much for the back now, colleague Chris should be able to help us in his future book.

SSTK, i suggest you remove the SP40 tk as it is a bit worn and trade in with me, i will give you a minty deschler? makes your visor more desirable

Of course, M1/24 TKs have similar zig-zag suture lines, so this is not an "exclusive" characteristic. Incidentally, that style of suture line is among the reasons some have speculated that the S.P. 40 TKs were also made by Overhoff.

oh yes i had forgotten about overhoff, one of my favourite makers, distinct straight teeth and the zig zag lines. if only we knew SP40 exact maker, this 2 shares a bit same traits.
