    SS TK Collar Tab Question

I know this is good. It's been looked at and OK'd on this forum previously.
What I would like to know is, is this an early VT TK Tab?
The skull seems simpler...i.e., no creases or seams in the skull itself.
Or is it a later tab, or just a manufacturer's variation on the theme??
    Thanx,
    Tim

I thought I meant VT as in Verfugungstruppe.
Am I wrong or misunderstanding TV?

VT (verfugungsTruppe) is LAH, Deutschland, Germania and Der Fuhrer until 1940/41. The skull tabs were used for the TV or TotenkopfVerbände and later on for the Waffen SS Totenkopf (the latter as in the case of the tab you have shown).

Your tab is the so-called "pumpkinhead" variation which started showing up in about 1944.

                Nice ti.. uh... tab

These tabs never appear in any wartime photos before mid-1944.

                      Here's a late '44 picture.............

I trust your words Robin and you know your skulls. I just had a vague memory of somewhere that these started to come out in mid war, lets say 1943. My memory...

Hi Robin thanks for the pic. I guess there's a date on the pic, I would have thought that tress and scalloped pocket were earlier. Thanks again Sonny

Earlier tunics continued to be issued (and repaired and reissued) until the end of the war.

Here's genuine bright tresse being worn by genuine SS men in 1947!
