    Just sharing a photo...

Thought some of you might like to see this image from Walter Hummel's album. Four Waffen-SS old-style NCO's crusher caps in one place.

          That's about $30,000 worth...

... of old style crusher's, Prosper! Awesome shot.
Is there any caption on the back? I'd say it was probably taken
at one of the Junker Schules, but I can't read any ct's.

It's one of the few without captions. Walter Hummel was SS-VT, in SS-Regiment Deutschland, in the early days. It certainly looks like a shot from a school or a course of some kind. There are a few shots of SS men on skis, one of whom is wearing a Totenkopf collar patch, so it could be a winterwar course, which would have been attended by members of different units. Or just a ski-ing trip for SS members.

                Hi Prosper,

                Great picture.

Is that an early lionhead sword in wear? Maybe you can tell from the original photo, I can't tell for sure from the scan.

                Regards,

It appears to be a K98 bayonet with portepee in a frog, Steve, but the
top does look a little strange.
