Hi,
Iv'e been a member for many years and have always enjoyed the forum untill the other year when i made a comment about prices ,that was the wrong thing to do i was hung/drawn and quartered for it even receiving some very nasty private messages from certain people ,i come here to try and lean and hopefully input something for others? i'm not always diplomatic it's not one of my strong points, so i rarely post or comment any more.

"Pen Pal").

Very interesting how certain peoples posts in those Forums are also conveniently (and continuously) either modified or magically disappear altogether (especially when things heat up and one of the "Old Guards" is losing the battle or whose dark collecting secrets are in jeopardy of becoming public knowledge).

I respect your opinions, basically most that I have read here, so I will heed this advice as good advice.
But I don’t think Hundstaffel needs your defending, as he is quite able to attack on his own.

And please don’t blame me for your not posting here, I just don’t like bullies and will continue to call a spade a spade. If you have an issue with that, then tell your friends to stop being bullies.

As far as the Old West analogy goes, I ‘ve been thinking about it since Nutmeg’s post.
I am beginning to think that maybe it wasn’t so much like legend has the story; the new young guns in town looking to pick a fight with the old gun slinger to make a name for themselves.
But it was more like; the new young guns coming to town and does not care to "kiss up" to the grumpy (and abusive) old gun fighter that everyone else is afraid of.

Rob, I will try to “cool it” because I respect your opinion, but if some one f’s with me or another member, it will not be easy to sit back in silence.

1) Forum burnout ... the experienced people are fed up of the same old fakes being posted on a daily or more often basis and then being pilliaried for not giving 20 lines on why this common fake isn't IIIrd Reich manufacture. Then when you go on another forum the same item is being posted again in the same words by a different 'name', often with a different 'location' and the same arguement starts all over again.

2) Small networks of new people are also ganging up to attack long-standing members. Forming their own list of what's original and not and authenticating each other in spite of the weight of evidence.

I think the forums are going well. There are always those who are failures at collecting and take great joy in taking it out on those who have lasted, but otherwise, it is still a pleasure to share in the hobby that we all enjoy.

I probably haven't posted for three years as it's just not worth it anymore you risk everything to gain nothing by showing your collection. I must say however that I have met some great collectors through the forum who remain excellent private contacts, so it still has some merit. I shall go back to lurking in the estand section which is very useful.
