I agree with Bob . If there are legit printed sleeve shields or other items of insignia, then their is reason for the possibility of SS printed insignia.
There are some that don't believe in Dachau SS because of similar Delta fakes of the 70's .

    PS. Flags are printed also

Of course, we cannot forget original Heer printed breast eagles and the printed wound badges, Iron Crosses, Assault badges, Close Combat badges, etc. Also, all original Sauerland shields are printed, the fakes are modern BeVo. For further illunination on printed versions of awards, the fine volume: Auszeichenungen des Deutschen Reichs.

Nor should we overlook all the foreign volunteer shields. Insignia was commonly printed, and the SS patterns shown here are all known original types that are/were found with relative ferquency in Dachau veteran groups.

If you are a believer, good for you! I don't like items that you have to try and explain why they could be real. As we all know every branch of the german military took photograph after photograph of themselves and their equipment, isn't it odd that none of these items ever appear? Coincidence, I think not!

dhunter93, are you suggesting that printed SS insignia are not original? The purpose of this thread was to discuss whether there exists adequate evidence to prove the printed insignia were worn, not to question whether such insignias should be considered original. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Bob).

But - here is a picture of a Canadian vets collection - everything was taken from the barracks and a storehouse, and was original. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ighlight=dutch A worn, issued printed eagle was among the unquestionably original material. Yes, it could have been planted there to influence future collectors. Unlikely. s/f Robert

I have bought "Direct Vet" items, where some of the stuff is good and other items are bad. Just because it comes from the "Vet" does not mean it's all good! Vet's like the public at large can be honest or not. Lot's of Vet's lie about where and how they got items.

Back to the topic : Do you really think the SS used that silk screen skull and adler? If so please explain why.

I base my opinion on the fact that SS items have been faked since the wars end. Fake silk screen SS cloth was being produced (by more than one person) in the 70's and 80's, the quality is poor, and no period photographs exist to support the theory.

                dhunter93,

Bob is trying to find evidence that proves this type of insignia was worn, not whether they are real.

So, to help other members, why don't you try to find evidence that proves they were never worn and are not real?

Just because photographic evidence is not yet forthcoming, does not prove that these were not worn during the war. I have plenty of exceedingly rare items in my collection that were never photographed during the war but are unquestionably 1000% real.

I don't think late in the war with their backs to Berlin they were taking much photos of new insignia!!

In fact if you search around you'll find some photos of printed insignia in wear even the rare piece klr showed..

That's right! It's a conspiracy against TR collectors!

Or maybe the seller thought that without that printed eagle, it would break the deal

Hannahs Reich currently has a number of printed sleeve eagles for sale accompanied by a purportedley original photo of one of these eagles on a LAH StuG wrapper. Unfortunately you have to buy an eagle to see the full photo, here is a glimpse......

I was aware of these photos, from an LAH photo album, for some time. I am glad they finally were published for the public to see that the printed sleeve eagles were actually used and worn, during WWII.

Now we can finally, with original photographic proof, put to rest the erronious belief that printed SS eagles were not used.
